E-A-G-L-E-S!! Eagles!
As long as you don't wonder why peole hate Eagles fans. It is pretty dumb to start that in a close game, unless you are prepared to have it thrown back at you when you lose, is all I'm saying. We wouldn't have even had to come up with new lyrics or anything.

Then one of the women ran up to our table, asking to take one of the Giant's paraphernalia items we had with us after the game. She's actually lucky she didn't get an ass-beating, instead of merely being reminded that Eagles fans might have something to celebrate if they ever, you know, win a Super Bowl or something.

We were in a generous mood, since we had such mixed emotions about even making the playoffs this year. I'd have been happy for us to stay home and for Favre to get one more shot at the playoffs. A team that goes 2-6 at the end of the year has no business in the playoffs.

I think people hate [insert name of any given team on any given Sunday] fans. And I understand why.

I spent most of the game yesterday with my eyes covered. I never burst into song, nor would I have been likely to (unless, of course, I was actually AT the game).

Sounds like I would have hated that group of Eagles fans, every bit as much as you.

That said.... Dallas sucks!

I hate the Cowboys. Hate them. Yet I felt bad for Romo. Awful way to end his season. If I were his friend, I would note for him that even if they had made the 3, there was enough time left for Seattle to take it down the field and win with a field goal.

The last 5 minutes of that game was completely bizarre. Strangest one in quite some time. I'm glad I had no vested interest in either of those teams.

I'm also glad the Giants are out (although the thought of no more Tiki Barber is a bit hard to take). Hopefully the last half of the season costs Coughlin his job. My main Giants buddy has vowed to boycott the Giants next season if Coughlin stays.

That said, I'm a huge Saints fan this week. We actually had idiotic Eagles fans singing some fight song by us at the sports bar yesterday. Who does that? It was not an Eagles bar, and they had Giants fans on three sides of them. I started hoping that we would win solely so that we could sing it back to them on their way out the door. They started in with the singing after the first touchdown, when they merely had tied the game.
I actually by chance saw the last 8 or so minutes of this game. The guy next to me agreed with going for the field goal, and was sad for Romo afterwards. They also had that 5-sec delayed reaction from the other portions of the bar because they were watching on HD. That really amuses the crap out of me, that delay. I had earlier opined that going for the field goal was the right thing to do, but only because it seemed to be the answer they were looking for.

Football is fun!

I have forgotten how downs work again.

I have never heard an Eagles fan wonder aloud why people hate Eagles fans. Nor have I heard one say that particularly obnoxious Eagles fans give all of them a bad name.

But then again, most of the Eagles fans I know are also lawyers.

Maybe so, but the thought of not having to hear about Tiki Barber's impending retirement is incredibly appealing.

Let me say this again. Fuck Brett Favre. I hope he comes back again next year and is even worse. What a selfish asshole. I'll never understand why anyone (including every single sportscaster who's ever spoken his name) likes him. Ten years ago? Ok. Now? Kiss my ass.

Brett Favre throws too many interceptions = Brett Favre needs to make something happen for his team since he is their only weapon. He has to force the issue. If he gets picked off, blame the offensive line or the receivers.

Brett Favre is a drug addict = Brett Favre has always played with pain. He's the toughest player in the league. He wouldn't be able to walk if he didn't take something to treat the pain.

Brett Favre refuses to assist in the development of rookie Packers quarterbacks because, as he says, "It's not my job" = Favre is the consummate team player. A true leader. And he's given so much to this team and the league that he shouldn't be expected to train his replacement. It's just insulting to him.

Brett Favre refuses to retire so the Packers can begin rebuilding and holds the team hostage every year while they wait for him to make a decision = Brett Favre is a warrior and he can still compete on a high level. The Packers owe him as much leeway as he wants. He should never retire. We love him.

Brett Favre's dad died = My life is over. I wish they had taken me so that Brett wouldn't have to endure this pain. Why God? WHY?

Hurricane Katrina brought some rain to Brett Favre's house = Please Lord. If you were a merciful God, Brett Favre's family will be spared any inconvenience. We know they're in no danger and he is worth $40 million, but God help us all if his family has to stay one more day at the Four Seasons until they replace that one window that was damaged.

Favre can suck it.

TM

If he retires he said he'll go hunting. With the way his accuracy has faded I think it's best if he keeps throwing inteceptions rather than picking up a rifle.

The non-Giants fans with us started rooting for the Giants purely because of those Eagles fans. For some reason we have some really obnoxious Eagles fans in this part of the country. Maybe because Eagles fans just tend towards the obnoxious?

The thing is, they have their own bar in SM, where I'm sure singing songs and unwarranted taunting is perfectly acceptable. I didn't go there. I just went to a regular neighborhood sports bar. These folks belonged in The Shack. They don't know how to behave in public.

I hope I see them next Sunday when they are getting their asses handed to them by NO.

Fly Eagles fly.

Actually, Mar-teen did chip the guy -- just not quite enough, as it turned out.

We watched both games in a big bar full of Jets, then Giants fans. 7 hours is too long to spend in a bar watching football with anyone, even your friends.

Unfortunately we spent the first half of the Jets game next to some random retahd of a Pats fan who pounded his palms on the bar and screamed before and after every play, then tried to engage us in conversation by addressing little pearls of tactical wisdom in our general direction and waiting hopefully for a response. His girlfriend ignored him stonily, arms folded. He left at halftime, taking with him his long-suffering girlfriend and the little Pats jersey beer cozy with which he had been dressing up his bottles of Miller Lite.

The Jets' collapse was predictable, and I only stayed because the missus is a Giants fan. But even she saw where things were headed by the middle of the fourth quarter and we listened to the New York football season come to an end on AM 660 in the car.

On the bright side, Dallas suffered a heartbreaking and humiliating loss.
