No kidding. Kind of like the obnoxious Eagle fan starlets this weekend who kept screeching the fight song even after staring at a close up of the penalty flag on the field...

Eagles fans for the most part are knowledgeable. They are just mean for no good reason, just like Vikings fans. Take fans of teams like Kansas City, Indy, Chicago or Green Bay. They are very vocal but somehow respectful in their interaction with fans of other teams (at least for the most part).

Maybe it is that whole "need to win a Super Bowl" chip, although that would not explain the Oakland or Denver fans.

If only he were actually sexy. I'm hoping he has another bad day. Because the Bears fans I know are really questioning his ability.

I'm really sorry for your loss, but it seems like losing Donovan McNabb was the best thing to happen to the Eagles in a long time. Who knew that Jeff Garcia had it in him?
I thought it was common knowledge that it was the improvement of the Eagles defense over the season that contributed most to their success. What do you think happens if the Eagles win the Superbowl? You think they bench or trade McNabb because they can just sign Garcia?

What is this "run" of which you speak? Are you sure it's allowed in football?

Why, why, why?

Haven't you learned anything yet?

It cannot always have been as shitty as it was this year. The reason I believe this is not based on my own recollection of his performances (when has he not been injured?), which is suspect at the best of times, but because I have been told by reliable sources that he looked like a promising quarterback at one time. And although I am not from Texas and know little about football, I understand one of the things a quarterback needs is an arm strong enough to throw a fucking ball that doesn't hang in the air like a soap bubble over the hopeful, upturned face of a completely immobile receiver, who is praying that it will reach him while there is still enough of him left on the field to catch it, and finally floats gently to the ground only to land on a bare patch of dirt several feet from where the medical team is collecting bloodied shoes, a helmet and other personal effects from a steaming pile of human wreckage the likes of which Cormack McCarthy couldn't imagine even in his most deeply troubled nightmares.

I think it was the shoulder surgery.

I don't think there are any Vikings fans left, but what makes you say they are mean (other than toward the Packers)?

They've sucked since Brown got hurt, but they still had the most takeaways and defense + special teams scored 9 TDs and only gave up 25. That's all the effort I'll put in it.

And, on TM's point about Favre, there have been nothing but excuses for Favre about the Packers' horrible receiving corps this year, but Driver is still better than any Pats' WR this year (and the rest aren't any worse) and Brady hasn't been throwing 3 INTs every other game like Favre.

Hurry. There might be some ethnic groups, socio-economic classes, and big-city-natives you haven't stereotyped yet today.

from my friends who go to Lions games I hear that the worst- absolute worst- visiting fans are when the Packers are here. Drunk fight starters.

Maybe every team has some asshole fans and some polite fans?

I believe you're thinking of the Braves. And I don't know why you think anyone thinks of the Yankees as America's team. Everyone outside of New York hates them and everyone in NY doesn't want to share. Outside of the country, they are recognized only because (i) of past success, (ii) Babe Ruth and (iii) the uniform.

I'm not mean. Hell, I can't believe the team made it to the playoff. I am profoundly grateful that they did.

Or, in the alternative, fuck you.

It's the thing that seems to work better when other teams try it on us than when we try it on other teams.

The Yankees were America's team before the Braves (who I also hate). And again briefly after 9/11.

But as universal hatred is a side-effect of winning, it's not such a bad thing.

No, she's thinking of the goddamned Cowboys.

Apparently we can thank the geniuses over at NFL Films for this.
