Paging Penske

don't you need 50K in dollars spent the previous year and to be invited to get a black card?

Claire Danes and Billy Crudup broke up. Poor Mary-Louise Parker somewhere is laughing her ass off. He left her when she was pregnant.

You know, I know some lawyers at Amex....

Of course, I still can't get them to stop sending me credit card solicitations.

It's really just about spending and credit. As long as your credit's good, just put a few tuitions and a small plane on your Amex and you'll get invited. If that doesn't work, buy a condo at your favorite Four Seasons Resort with your Amex. Whatever you do, don't ask.

Friend of mine put all of his legal fees in on his AMEX, well over $200K (it was a nasty break up). He got a special invitation to their box at the US open and a gagillion miles on Continental, but he didn't get a black card.

Was it all in one year?
Does he have a good credit rating as Greedy x3 suggested?

Technically you need to charge more than $150K in a year. If you have a platinum and charge more than $100K and ask nicely I hear that they will accommodate you. DL. DL.

$100K? That's a little over $8k a month. If one puts all her monthly expenses on a credit card, that's pretty easy to reach in a year.

What's your problem, bnb?

Right. That's the thing. You need to be a long time Amex customer. I am. My card says Cardholder since 1989. You need to spend a buttload of money on the card. My monthly nut doesn't cut it. Hell, my mother's monthly nut doesn't cut it. And then there's so magic voodoo thing that needs to happen.

The only person I know who actually carries a black card is a real tool. Uncle Ron's card was platinum, last time he took me to dinner anyway.

Lizzie grubman's dad has a black. Alan Grubman? but I guess that is in keeping w/your ass theory. It was in some NY Magazine article. He said something like "here's an amex black something you;ll never see in your lifetime"

Charm.school.

I think penske said black's fees are steep

I still have a green card. I just can't figure a reason to pay for the benefits from the others. Since they mail you the black, I assume it is free. is it? And it's unlimited credit AND acess to all airport clubs. What other benefits are there from these cards?

You have to spend at least $100,000/year for five years to get an AmEx Black or you have to be someone rich enough and high profile enough that you'll get an offer without doing that.
