Diane Keaton posted the below recipe last year. I'm going to attempt it some time next week. I'll let ya'll know when it's ready for tasting in a few months and invite you over.
Quote:
Limoncello (3 quarts)

2 dozen lemons
2 bottles good 100 proof Vodka
4 1/2 cups sugar
5 cups water

Wash lemons in hot water, peel them removing all white pith and put peel in 4 quart Mason jar. Add 1st bottle of Vodka, stir, cover and put in dark spot at room temp. After 40 days, take out and open. Boil sugar and water for 5 minutes in saucepan, let cool completely in pan (about 10 minutes) and add the mix to the jar along with the 2nd bottle of Vodka; stir well. Cover again and store 40 more days. At day 80, strain and discard the lemon peel. Pour into new bottles and put one bottle at a time in freezer until ready to use. Send 1 bottle to Diane Keaton.

Fringey, I think Ty's right that you should choose an island and then try to find something cheap. Sadly, notwithstanding ncs' and Mr. Man's fancy tendencies, I don't think there's shit on Maui that would qualify as inexpensive anyway.

I rather like Sauvignon Blanc. Cakebread Vineyards in particular is quite nice.

  • We understand Ms. Benefit may be visiting you soon. congratulations. In order to ensure her visit is most enjoyable for you and her, and to avoid unpleasantness, we require the following be in your larder prior to her arrival:

applewood smoked bacon- 1 lb per day
    pancake ingrediants
3 fresh donuts each AM (edit- thank god there's a Tim's down the street)
Coffee ready at 8AM each morning
Deli meats and breads for lunch (assorted)
potato salad 1/2 lb per day
Belgium beers 4 per day of visit
assorted chocolate bars (1/2 dozen per day)
Ribeye steaks for dinner each evening (bone in)
    baked potatos and assorted toppings
    stir fried vegetables
Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir choices for each evening-
(vineyard at host's choice- but $25 per bottle range)
Fresh coffee after dinner, Sambuca and Bailey's for coffee
1 Case of Sake (edit- typo? maybe she meant 1 bottle?)
    Crackers and cheeses
    Whipped cream
    Ice cream
    Assorted cake

Also you should plan on taking Ms. Benefit out to dinner at least 50% of the evening she will be visiting. Lunch should be out at least 33% of the time.

We have found that careful preparation and attentino to the detailed instructions listed above are most likely to allow you to complete your visit with a minimum chance of incident.

So I've got all that, and I'm ready for her. But I've been trying to think of what else to have in case she wants a snack or something. Ideas?
I don't like whipped cream or ice cream very much. And I kind of prefer Syrah to Pinot.

This reminds me of a time when I spent what seemed like five hours making a mole sauce and told a chef friend about it, who responded: "You know, Flower, there are a lot of really good commercially available mole sauces."

Tara Connor is the drunken, drug-addled, under age Miss America. The Donald has graciously allowed her to continue her reign since she is entering rehab.

I had no idea she was capable of impregnating Komodoo dragons too.

I don't know anyone who makes sushi. To make sushi, you need to undergo a rigorous apprenticeship and endure years of training. I thought a Japanophile such as yourself would know that.

Actually, Tara is Miss USA (the sexy pageant) not Miss America (the wholesome pageant).

I lived in Japan for 3 years.

Wait.

That might have been my friend Spanky who did that.

If you're going to be down there, you have to stay at the Grand Hyatt at Poipu Bay (and play the course -- it's where the Grand Slam of Golf is and it's absolutely beautiful). What a great hotel.

Did you use fresh moles? It doesn't take so long if you use canned moles.
