She could sing "Happy birthday" to me in a see-through dress any day of the week.

Now that the waxxxy glow has faded somewhat, I remain of the opinion that I am very happy that she shared herself with us and look forward to any repeat performances. I am also grateful for the screensaver she has provided me.

"Chin up old bean!" What a delightful turn of phrase. Leave it to a double Crimson!

Agree. Norma Jean-ish. (Wasn't that her real name? Too lazy to Google.) The innocent look that is so un-Britney.

Ha! Lol! Good show mate. Corner office stuff no doubt. Your repartay reminds of my own school dayz and the first phottoshoppe class I ever took.....
I modified an early phottoshoppe from those daez as a gift for you and Ty, my best PB friends and co-mods. One part is a pic of me warning you off and the other is my mom offering Ty the leftover sutter home to take home. There is a common theme. See if you can figure it out and PM me.
Boo. Yah.

I won't be shocked at all when they find Miss Britney dead in a bungalow at the Chateau Marmont, clad only in pearls, Channel No. 5 and her own vomit.

NBC affiliate or one of those Designer Imposters* knock off labels? I think it would be rude of her to die in some fragrance other than the ones she's been pawning off on stupid high school girls in those awful fantasy ads.
*I always think of gwnc and all those men she's never met before who suddenly gave her flowers when I think of these.

Think Uncle Ben: big toothy smile, yassir. Domestic servants, however, were allowed a great deal of sass – listen to the old Great Gildersleeve shows, and you get a perfect picture of the popular idea of this idealized relationship. Gildy is henpecked and outdone by all his domestic associates, but the only person who comes across with any degree of pride or level-headedness is Birdie, the servant, and Gildy’s relationship to her is one of kindness and deference. You could say that’s easy: she didn’t count, so it was easy to be nice to her. But that’s wrong. There was a fundamental decency and mutual affection in their relationship. Yes, yes, idealized depiction of inherent inequalities, etc. As the argument no doubt goes, the shows perpetuated inequality by pretending they really didn’t exist. But it’s instructive to note what the popular culture held out as the ideal. Equality, not subjegation. Birdie was fully integrated into the family, and shared the same values. Nowadays I suspect a sitcom with a Black servant in a middle-class family would milk the clash of cultures, not the similarities. Wanda Sykes would star.
That would be James Lileks. More.

Lileks is a columnist at the local paper. Usually his columns are about innocuous stuff. He also has a thing about 40s & 50s advertising and food stuff.
But I've read this blog entry several times and for the life of me can't figure out what he's trying to say. That '40s & 50s programming was actually progressive in race relations? And I don't know what he's trying to say about stewards. I've never gotten a racist vibe from him so am sort of inclined to think he meant something other than what it looks like.
