Next year? You mean 2008? I don't think she'll wait that long.
And sure, buying and moving a refrigerator to an apartment, while creative, is certainly not convenient. But then, you're not about convenience, right?

I now have the step stool. WTF? Problem solved. There is no issue. The refrigerator fits just fine, and I wouldn't want a big gaping space between the refrigerator and the cabinet anyway. The new stepstool fits in the small space. I don't need to shop. My life is perfect.

You're right. That is the thing about the Container Store that is worth the price. You basically say "This is my problem" and have one of the people there come back with "Here is the solution." Returns are simple too. Plus no gubment cheese lines waiting to check out.

I think Hank was offering, in his own weird way, to move your refrigerator for you. Hank strong.

Burger was merely pointing out that you could have achieved the same result more efficiently -- without acknowledging the inefficiency of his searching for an alternative for a product that you had already obtained and with which you were clearly quite satisfied. (Nevertheless, he did efficiently accomplish the task of showing you how you could have done things better, and he didn't even have to say "You should have bought an Apple.") Burger smart.

As for NFH's preaching about convenience when she bought a second tree stand at Target, because it was cheaper, rendering it necessary that she waste precious minutes of her dirty thirties at a dirty WalMart to benefit from the price difference, well, what's there to say?

Wal-Mart skeeves me out. I understand there are bargains to be had...and each item however small is guaranteed to be at least a 1 to 2 dollars cheaper....the paper towels and such are so dirt cheap, but the long lines, and the freakishly obese people with no teeth screaming at their kids...and the people that look like they dropped out of the ozarks for white trash parade freak me. I know I know, I'm no better than anyone but they make my skin crawl. I feel like the 2 bucks I save....I need a shower after. or my eyes are permanently seared.

Not cheaper - better, for the same price. That story made me want to cry.

I feel like I need a shower with L'Occitane Olive Oil soap after I read a post with too many ellipses.

Lessons learned by RT so you don't have to

The first installment of 2007.

When buying a major household appliance, avoid the temptation of buying the very cool, very energy efficient, very space saving appliance manucaftured by a tiny company that no appliace repair person in your area has ever heard of or has any clue how to fix.

Stupid washer/dryer combination machine.

We did that. washer dryer combo with the dryer inside. Italian company. Great machine. broke down constantly. impossible to find a repair dude. Finally found one and he had to travel for miles on end to us.
