I don't like the insinuation here. My family and I drink only a moderate amount of turpentine, always socially, and we would never dream of buying it by the "jug."

Other people read this board, you know. Maybe even some long-time lurkers too afraid to post and ask what to do with their too-tall trees -- since yours are always clearly the perfect size, Ms. Perfect Christmas Everything -- and by asking they would open themselves to your ridicule and scorn.

For them, I offer helpful tree-trimming tips in an offhand fashion.

My resolution for the New Year? Completely ignore ppnyc. Any of the remaining few with me?

Happy New Year and so long.....

So it looks like I am no longer a GA, i.e. I made partner; and thus I guess it is time for me move on, more or less.

The GA community and the various interwebbian nooks and crannies in which we....you dwell has been quite informative and collegial in my ascent to a corner office, for which I owe many of y'all a debt of gratitude, and certainly I will miss the love and suppourt of my friends here (on on the other GA sites).

I probably won't be a complete stranger and possibly will still look at (and even respond to) the posts now and again, but I will also do my best to respect the GA/GP divide.

Hank.....Ty......et al, please feel free to try to take whatever posthumous cheapshots at me if it makes you feel better.

Regards,

Penske

Hey

So I thought about being less judgmental this year, but where's the fun in that? And since Weed has decided he wants to be most helpful, I am left with more snarky. Renee Zellweger needs a man. Or some other reason to wear makeup. Because this look is not good.

I'll do my best, but sometimes those softballs are just too tempting to resist.

That's nice. Thanks. In return, my last act before leaving is to take you off ignore too.

So long.....

What if you got a tall, thin, sparse 10 foot tree? How would the stand know any better?
I have no idea how tall my tree is. I walked in the woods, said "this looks about right," and started hacking. I also have no idea how tall my tree stand is rated. I will note that the tree is tied to a nearby bracket on the wall, just in case someone decides to run by too quickly. It's going down today. *sniff* I'll miss the colors and the sparkles.

I also note that I'm soaking wet, my kitchen is flooded, but thanks to the service guy at the manufacturer who walked me through the whole process, I have pulled out the defective pump from my washer/dryer and am well on my way to getting a new one. I think I"ll call the mom and pop appliance repair people down the street to install it when it gets here.

This makes up for the ceiling fan I installed incorrectly last week. Stupid white wire.

Can ya'll tell that this has been the week for home repair jobs? I was supposed to be simply directing service people to various tasks around the house. Yet somehow I've ended up on ladders and under washer/dryers.

I thought the whole point of wearing make up was so that you can falsely ensnare a man and then stop wearing it after it is too late for him to escape? no?

I can tell it should have been the week for reading the Time-Life series on DIY home repairs.
