I am sorry I was not able to make it to Aura yesterday evening, but let's meet up before the 31st and I will help you with a "ritual" that will help keep all of those resolution in the mind's forefront.

The Celtics had just won Game 7. In Game 6 Bird made the steal, and stole the game from the jaws of defeat. Dennis Rodman had been guarding Bird that series. He was asked about Bird, and Dennis made the comment. This was before everyone found out Dennis was nuts, so people took it seriously.
The reporters walk over to Isiah's locker and ask him if he agrees. He said something like:
- "Dennis is a rookie. Once he's played longer he'll realize how wrong he is. BUT there are some things that are screwed up in how black and white players are seen. Black players always make 'athletic plays' and white players always make 'intelligent plays.' That's screwed up. Did you see the play Bird made to steal the ball in game 6? that was a very athletic play, but it's not reported that way.
And it's screwed up because it sends a bad message to kids both black and white. It tells black kids they aren't as smart and it tells white kids they really can't be on the same court. The press should be more aware of this and stop."
I agree with him. I see it to this day in youth basketball.
I guess because he didn't just catagorically deny what Dennis said he was seen as seconding it. He didn't.
Of course the fucking Celtics were so untouchable that "Celtic Pride" caused the story to stick. AND I hope the Celtics continue to suck forever.

I think a good resolution for you would be to focus on being angry and bitter about more important things than decades-old professional sports occurrences.

Mine are as follows -
1. take positive steps to figure out post-law career
2. stop with the road rage/driving angry
3. let people who make me happy know my feelings more often/better
4. find a good yoga studio in LA and start going regularly
5. spend less time wasting time in front of the computer and do more things
6. save bunches of money (half of salary? half of take home?)
Good luck to both of us.

Initially, mine were going to be more wanton sex with people of all ages (except minours and dead people), more wealth, and don't get fired, but instead, I have condensed it to one simple resolution that is sure to get me all of that and more......
I resolve to be friendlier.
eta: and to eat 3 ounces of all-bran at every meal.

Weather they understand the impourt or naught, it is best to give them the tools for self-betterment. If they fale to use said tools, they have none but themselves to blame.

I agree with the sentiments that you attribute to him here, but the fact remains that he was widely quoted as saying other things, too. I'm not sure why you think he didn't say those things.

C'mon. It's not the Celtics' fault that Thomas said something stupid or that no one had figured out yet that Rodman was nuts. That said, you certainly are getting your wish. Keep enjoying Chauncey Billups, will you?

Belated Christmas Gift
My boss who went on vacation prior to Christmas had emailed me the heads up that he had mailed out my Christmas gift....and I was pleased because I wasn't sure if he had forgotten. It just arrived and it is really, truly, beautiful and thoughtful. I'm really touched.
