Wondering if this reminds anyone of anything . . .

The other day, I was feeling kind of sick. Scratchy throat. Maybe even a touch feverish. But I decided to go to spin class anyway. Well, as fate would have it, this was the day the teacher decided to really push it out. I mean, really really push it out. I was weak and did not have my usual spinning spark. By minute 40, I thought I might have to call it a day. But when she called out the three minute standing sprint, it was like I was temporarily transformed. I reached deep inside myself, and found a reserve of strength and energy and courage that I previously did not know existed. I am not sure that "heroic" is the right word to describe the situation, but nor I am sure that it is not.
Anyway, after class I was describing to a couple of others how I was a little sick and feeling low during the class. They accused me of "playing it up" and said I could not have really been sick given my performance in class. But sure enough, I took my temperature when I got home. A fever of 101.
I suppose if you have never been in the position where you have had to reach deep inside yourself to find that reserve, it would be easy to be skeptical of Schilling or Jordan - to think they were overstating the pain and the weakness for the sake of drama. But let's just say that I would not be so quick to judge until you have been in their shoes.

I'm guessing TM has been in Michael Jordan's shoes at some point.

Nice try, Adderwhiff, but as usual you are missing the point. First, the fact that some likely pungent foreigners have set up base in Manhattan for some period of time does not make them any less foreign or any less smelly. Second, to spend that much money in Manhattan, whether it is your own or not, and to use it for some saffron, art fag, monument to your own ego instead of for something like, um, a firemen's widow relief fund, is nothing less than an affront to the city.

Oh relax. Like I'm some boorish hick if I don't "get" the art of wrapping outdoor stuff up. Huh! If that's the case, 90% of (straight) men are boorish hicks as most secretly admit to thinking modern art is crap (unless its boobies in cubist style or something and the ratio is good). And its the self-important musings that turn me off to Christo (probably because there is something vaguely French about it). Like the artist decrying the use of "labels" (horror!) in art and dismissively insisting that if you MUST, I mean MUST, "label" his art he prefers "environmental art."
Environmental art, my ass. These bozos tie up traffic and waste money.

All of these shrouds ending up as backyard patio shades scattered across American suburbia would be the most delicious statement about Christos' art yet.

The website says that the material will be recylced, so they'll end up everywhere.

Your next beer will contain some H2O from Hitler's bathwater. Irony doesn't work at the molecular level.

What distinguishes art from other human creations is that it's useless. This criticism is therefore not particularly apt.

Does that apply to everyone's bath water?
