I was told that just this morning by a man in an overly-bright conference room. He was sitting in front of an Elmo, but I think the overall effect was similar.

Not helping

Someone in marketing is not paying attention. People are trying to lose weight.

Burger King launched two new breakfast sandwiches Monday that are the latest weapons in an emerging race among fast-food companies to lure customers with bigger, fattier and more filling menu offerings.

Burger King’s "Enormous Omelet Sandwich" features a two-egg omelet topped with two slices of American cheese, three strips of bacon and a sausage patty on a hoagie-style bun. At 730 calories and 47 grams of fat, it is even heftier than the company’s famed "Whopper," which weighs in at 700 calories and 42 grams of fat.

Or you could call it a heart attack on a toasted bun.

  • Goddess with 100ft breasts to rival Angel of the North

FIRST came the Angel of the North. Now motorists using the A1 are to be confronted with the far earthier figure of a giant reclining “goddess” stretching her curves alongside nearly half a mile of the dual carriageway.
The woman, with breasts and hips up to 100ft high, will be created 10 miles north of Newcastle from the waste material generated by open-cast mining, with each of her enormous curves concealing millions of tons of mining spoil. Charles Jencks, the renowned landscape sculptor behind the designs, said: “When finished you will see the most incredible curvaceous woman lying there with her left leg over the right and her hair spread out.”

Amazing weekend.
The question then becomes, will we see shades of the Illini team of Marcus Liberty, Kenny Battle, Nick Anderson, and Kendal Gill (still, for my money, the most athletically gifted college hoops team I've ever seen), who got so close but lost in the semi on a tip-in by a freshman on the buzzer? Can anyone on Lousville play Glenn Rice and Rummeal Robinson? Or are the Illini for real?

We'll see. Sat. will be another very tough one, and if they get that far they'll be a slight dog to UNC.

Interesting fact about that '89 team is that, as athletic as they were, none of the starting 5 were over 6' 6". I agree with you about how athletic they were. Saw them many times in person.

That's exactly what I mean: they were like clones, all interchangeable, all played 5 positions. That team was rEcockulously FUN to watch.

ETA: G. Robinson and Rummeal Robinson were terrific that year, and the final angainst Andrew Gaze was terrific (OT, wasn't it?), but Illinois was the best team that year. Fuck Sean Higgins.

ETA: Damned no-link-allowing bastards! You can find some terrific pictures of that team here. I especially like ones with Kendal Gill dunking on the whole D, and the one of Battle dunking on Loy Vaught.

Grandmama's UNLV teams may disagree with you there.* Larry Johnson, Stacey Augmon, Anderson Hunt and Greg Anthony.

TM

*The fix was on in that loss to Duke in '91. 45 game win streak. Blew Duke out in the Championship the previous year by 30. Returned the same starting five. Players photographed in "The Fixer's" hot tub.

The Rebs were amazing, and were probably the most talented team that has played the game. Hell, they probably could have beaten 1/2 of the clubs in the NBA that season. Still, I stand by my assertion that the '89 Illinois team was more athletic.

ETA: concur re the fix in '91, though without fix we would never have had the Bobby Hurley to Grant Hill alley oop to open the game: still an amazing play.

Bored

I just caught myself thinking about penis and humming "every rose has its thorn."

I do not like this person I've become.
