I am looking forward to seeing it on HBO next year so I can compare Darius Miles's acting with the other great hoops actors: Ray Allen, Shaq Deisel, and all of the guest stars from Eddie, Forget Paris, and Like Mike (AI and Dirk, good; JKidd, not).
|
Darius Miles is surprisingly good in it, but the asian kid steals the show. And Scarlett and Erika look HOT. That Erika Christensen is great at coming off as a dirty little whore. But Scarlett is the smokingest messed up rich-girl high school babe ever.

Actually, I probably would have guessed Congo offhand. Damn projection maps.
How hard can it be to name 10 countries in Africa? At least that many are in the news regularly in the recent past (most due to major wars) -
Congo
Congo-Brazzaville
Liberia
Cote d'Ivoire
Cameroon
Angola
Sudan
Lybia
Zimbabwe
Mozambique
Somalia
Ethiopia
Eritria
Burundi
Rawanda
Malawi
Botswana (basically in the news for not being Zimbabwe)
Then there are the usual ones just about everyone can remember:
South Africa
Egypt
Morocco
Algeria
Senegal
Nigeria
Uganda
Kenya
Chad (just because of the name)
Mali (because that's where Timbuktu is - doesn't everyone know Mali for that? OK, just me.)
Ghana - where everyone I know who's done grad-school field work in Africa has ended up
Some places get forgotten - Namibia, for some reason, maybe because there is no one there. And Burkina Faso - what the hell is in Burkina Faso, anyway? Mauritius, yeah, a bit obscure, I guess. And maybe people might not think of the arab ones because they lump them into the middle east. But not being able to name 10 of them? Shocks me, and not because I was some geography geek in HS.
BR(then again, I don't know how many of the "world-wide kung-fu tournament" movies I've seen where there are "national representatives" from 6 different regions of China, and one from "Africa")C

I thank you for the effort, but I do not fear the lizard, except on Fridays. You see, a friend of a friend went to ACL and has pictures.

Sudan and Congo shouldn't count, seeing as how their respective governments exert no control over large portions of their nominal territory.
But, then again, you can say the same thing about Canada, so there you have it.

So I guess I should go see "Whale Rider," with the Oscar nomination and all. Until yesterday, I thought it was a BBW porno from Slave's private collection.

So what is the largest country in Africa?

I SWEAR I haven't read ahead (and my likely wrong answer will prove it -- and as if I didn't have cred as someone who never scrolls and THEN posts...), I would say Sudan.

If you're prone to throwing things at the screen when characters act badly, have plenty of popcorn ready.
Also, if you get weepy at the drop of a hat, have the tissue on hand.
The girl is delightful and thoroughly deserved her nomination. I liked the movie a lot.
