This is outable, but whatever, I interviewed a secretarial candidate today, and what came out, that was not on her resume, was that up until a year ago, she was a partner at a large firm in another city. She left to on sabbatical and decided to not go back. She says she wants an easy 9-5 job in an area she knows without any pressure. I think this is fucked up.
Question, if you quit practising is there even a remote likliehood that you would go back to a lawfirm as an admin staff person?
For me, the answer is never. I would kill myself first and give my family the $4MM life insurance policy. Seriously.

Honestly, I was dumbfounded. She had been at a big firm in Phoenix, was a Seattle native, who moved back her to be closer to family.
By the by, does everyone at Stoel suck, or does it just seem that way from my anecdotal experience?

2. The only thing worse than being a lawyer is working for one.
I have never understood why paralegals ever go on to law school. They see the absolute worst part of the profession, yet still persist?
Why can't this woman downgrade to some kind of cushy of counsel spot that's part time.

my bestest friend ran out of stoehl Portland a few years ago- he wasn't happy BUT he set me up to use the conference rooms when my high powered legal career took me there for a deposition. They spend lot's of money, plus they had 3 major coffee brands available. You know a firm is dysfunctional if it can't agree on 1 type coffee.
