You are desperate. Have you been to Bridgeport???

Come on up to Boston, we've got some decent college hockey up here to distract us.

Speaking of Bravo, Project Runway starts tomorrow. My good friend Vanessa is one of the contestants. I imagine that she'll be the obnoxious Eurotrash that everyone hates. For those who could give a crap about my friends, Heidi Klum is the host of the show.

ETA Vanessa's personal website so you can see her clothes.

Oh, damn that is funny.

I wonder how these guys get the authority to speak on behalf of all of the neo-Templars. I intuit that these guys are claiming "hay wain" authority - the Scottish Rite Freemasons may have something to say about that. I surmise that this is an escalation of hostilities among warring factions within the SUCTCTW (secret underground cabal that controls the world). Next, the Rosicrucians will get 501(c)-3 status. (Whoops - they have that already.) Hell, the OTO might well try to channel Al to kick some ass with this development ...

I have never been - someone just extended an invitation so that's why I was thinking Bridgeport.

Every year there is another crop of great new players coming up that haven't gotten used to 7 figure salaries. They might be willing to play under a cap.
According to CBC (older story):

Quote:
Under American law, the NHL can begin using replacement players if it goes to the U.S. National Labor Relations Board and declares an impasse in negotiations.

The situation is a little trickier in Canada because labour falls under provincial jurisdiction with different rules applying to each team.

At present, though, the NHL is officially distancing itself from such an option.

Someone was mentioning greed earlier and maybe I'm naive and don't like to think the players are disproportionately greedy because, well, I love them - but I believe Forbes did an article that indicated that the NHL is not losing money as badly as the owners have made out and in fact the owners have misstated their financials to over-estimate losses. Did anyone read this article or have a link? I'm forgetting where I heard about this.

TdF Update

Tyler Hamilton fired by Phonak; Phonak and AG2R out of this year's Tour?

Guess we can scratch Hamilton off the list of next year's leading contenders.

ETA: Well, isn't that a weird coincidence. Hi, Anne!

Things with wheels

Tyler Hamilton fired by Phonak after blood doping confirmed. Phonak will not be competing in the 2005 Tour de France. Will Lance be there?

Speaking of Lance, anyone else watch Overhauled on TLC? His GTO gets overhauled in an upcoming episode. Yes, Sheryl Crow is in on in. I'm not a car person but I really enjoy that show. It helps that I have a crush on Chip Foose.

ETA: Damn you Dave. (Hi!)

Are you annoying?

Take the test, 6 or more and you are, in fact, annoying - please either get help or leave.

Left off the list for unknown reasons are turning the ringer up on your phone to 85 dB so that the ring can be heard on the next floor. And cranking your speakerphone volume up to same levels so that everyone gets to hear your fascinating conversations.

1) You make provocative statements to "foster dialogue" or needle others.

2) You often find yourself delivering a discourse consisting solely of buzzwords and catch phrases.

3) You make up nicknames for all of your coworkers and refer to them only by these names. (e.g. "Good job, Chachi!", "I'm going to have to disagree with you there, T-bone!")

4) Your office is completely decorated in your children's pictures and artwork.

5) You have plastered your cubicle with photos of yourself taken with famous people.

6) It is your trademark to recite rhyming or other cutesy messages as your voicemail greeting.

7) The questions you ask at meetings are preceded by long monologues of your views and accomplishments.

8) You routinely eat odiferous lunches at your desk. (What is with this?)

9) You bring in dishes that you tried to cook, but didn't turn out quite right as "special treats" for your coworkers.

10) People seem tense -- even panic-stricken -- when they see you coming their way.

11) Others back away from you as you speak.

12) You send flurries of e-mails to the rest of the company telling them what you are doing. (e.g. "If anyone needs me, I'll be in the bathroom.")

13) You vigorously chew or pop your gum. (Kill that person)

14) You wear strong perfume or cologne. (What is with this?)

15) You assume your coworkers are fascinated by your personal problems and exploits.

16) You interrupt others while they are speaking or are deep in conversation.

17) You are moody and don't care who knows it. (Speaking of...where is Fringey?)

18) You often give others assignments as they're walking out the door for lunch or to catch the train home. (I live this every day.)

19) You borrow staplers, scissors and tape from others' desks and forget to return them.

20) Your dialogue with others often end with the other person shouting "You are so annoying!"

These could all be summarized as "You post on the PB".
