I'm not saying that they did. But the people who are pissed that first years are making $125k* are still thinking of 1995 dollars when they think about how much they are paying first years. They're (conveniently) forgetting that the billing rates have probably gone up more than 50% at most firms during that period, that average hours are probably 10-20% higher, that the cost of living has gone up a shitload in the cities where people are making that kind of money and that the practice of law is different with blackberries, e-mails, pdfs, etc.

That's why the govt doesn't want you to take psychedelics. They tear apart the stage that's our reality. It's hard to take the gaping asshole yalping about a case seriously when you consider his utter lack of significance in the larger scheme of things.

They also forget that billable expectations have increased since then by at least 10% at many firms.

The judge I clerked for, who happened to work at teh same firm I subsequently did, albeit decades earlier, told me the billable expectation when he was there was 1400 hours per year.
