Marinate any fish in a paste made of soy sauce, brown sugar, and hot mustard. Grill.
Serve with sesame noodles. Either buy them already made at your local gourmet market, or buy the Lipton package. Pre-packaged salad is good. Try a ginger dressing.
For dessert, put canned cling peaches in a casserole, top with brown sugar and a splash of Cointreau and bake at 400 for about 45 minutes. Serve over vanilla ice cream. Or marinate strawberries in basalmic vinegar and sugar. Also serve with ice cream.

Do you know any that don't need a vowel? I found it impossible to use my Q and X the other night because I had no fucking vowels. And the vowels on the board were not particularly helpful. I'm back to the "stockpile U's" strategy next time I play.
[Scrabble ended in a draw. No bet loser to cook dinner for me tonight.]

I don't disagree with any of that, just saying that the sex that I have with a specific person usually gets better after the first few times. Not that the first sex can't be good, or even great, just that there's something intangible about fucking someone a few times that lets you get to know how to fuck them and get fucked by them better. I have to strain my brain to remember that girl I drunkenly fucked against the washer at a house party in college in the early 90s and if it was good or not, but I can damn well remember a few truly great times with others. I stand by my statement that the sex between two people objectively gets better after they've had some experience with each other. I like the strange, too, and I like the drunken first-time sex, too. Can we agree on that and let it go?

Q and not U is playing the Logan Square Auditorium soon, but their current stuff isn't as good as their old stuff.

Please list the q and not u words so that I don't have to lose next time. Although I did not get any good letters except for the Z. Seriously, all one pointers.

I think I know you. You're the guy who thinks what you do is really complicated and who talks down to first years when trying to explain your bigshot deals, using unnecessary lingo, leaving the first year totally confused and freaked out until someone else comes along and says "hey, it really isn't that hard, here's what you need to know right now, let's take a look at this checklist and I'll describe the various documents for you." Yes?
I don't think ABBA was saying she can't cook at all. She seemed to be saying she doesn't cook. There's a difference. You talk to her like she's gonna fuck up opening a jug of milk.
Hey, newber, back away from that saute pan! Let a man show you how it's done!
[This is the part of the post where I would typically call him a condescending prick, but I'm trying to come across as nicer for the not-so-new year, so I won't this time.]

qat (this one is the most reliable)
qanat
qindar
qindarka
qintar
qoph
qwerty (really - it's a word)
sheqel (a personal fave, but i've never been able to use it)
sheqalim
tranq (i might have pulled this off once)
And no, I don't have the list memorized -- I usually remember, at most, three of them at a time.

* I don't really care if someone thinks this is sexist. It's my experience. I've never had a terrible meal served by some guy who didn't understand that cooking is more than following a recipe like a monkey. I've had many served by women. It may very well be that there are plenty of guys out there doing this as well for women they want to bed, but it seems to me that men are much more willing to admit it when they know jack shit about cooking. Whenever guys try to cook for me (I have a lot of gay friends and a lot of foody friends, so it's not that uncommon), it's usually pretty good because they know what they're doing. But a lot of clueless women have tried to cook for me, and it's sucked.

Some women learned to cook from their fathers.

Whatever, I guess. I'm saying that I think that searing tuna is somwehat difficult. You have to have the right equipment, you have to get the shit damn hot, you have to cook it only briefly and you have to make sure that you still get it warm enough that it tastes good and is safe. I don't think it's a good dish for a person who can't/doesn't cook. Maybe you think differently, or maybe Abba is a fucking natural at tuna-searing. Cool. I'm just offering my opinion.
As for the whole training thing, I tend to just try to bring people along for the ride and answer as many questions as they have, point out importand issues, tell them exactly what they need to know and do on the things that they're actually doing and have responsibility for, and let the rest work itself out. I think that people learn by exposure and observation, not as much by taking notes and being told things.
I'm not the kind that walks around with my dick in my hand being so proud of how complicated the shit that I do is, but, yeah, I think it's pretty complicated, just like I am sure that most things that most lawyers here do are pretty complicated. Could you have done what you do now as a first year? I couldn't have. It's the people treat things as simple, easy or "form" when they should understand the nuances or when the things aren't simple, easy or "form" who fuck things up royally by trying to do more than they understand how to do.

Don't crimp your style. You just need to frame it as helpful advice or constructive criticism.

My advice on the cooking bit is to get some fresh wasabi, two sushi grade tuna steaks and either grill or sear them until the outside is cooked, but the inside rare. Served with spinach sauteed in peanut oil and mixed with a some peanut sauce.
Its a foolproof meal. You can even fake saute the spinach by nuking it in peanut oil and mixing in the peanut sauce afterward.
Oh, and put out a bowl of soy sauce. And serve it with some red or some beer. I find Dos Equis tastes good with tuna.
