For how wonderful the city is, everything about the surrounding suburban area sucks (sorry, Wonk). It is all flat, overpriced farmland w/minimalls and big box stores.

Hank: the Detroit suburbs are a breath of fresh air compared to effing Schaumburg. Actually, the Detroit suburbs are amazingly nice given what they surround.
No need to apologize to me. I didn't design them.

Also, you will find apropos this song, which I saw performed last night by Richard Thomson (BTW, great, great show and I highly recommend catching this tour. It's just him and double-bassist Danny Thompson (no relation) and it is amazing.):

The Hots for the Smarts

Excerpt:
Quote:
I like a girl from Mensa
With a furrowed brow
When the tenses get denser
She gets it – and how!
I need a polymath
Called Cindy or Cath
Who likes her Plato not too platonic
An autodidact
Who can add and subtract
While sipping her Tolstoy and tonic

I need a girl with a feel
For Faraday’s wheel
A girl who’ll drool
For Fleming’s Left Hand Rule
Now you may like pin-ups
Of girls who do chin-ups
Like Xena the Warrior Princess
But I’ll take to dinner
My Nobel Prize winner
With plutonium stains down her dress

Jesus. I was clearly too concerned with the fancy French thingy, and didn't pay enough attention to the language in which I am allegedly fluent. Lesson learned.

Spread collar (images from the website of sebby's favorite retailer, just to be amusing):

I defy you to find me a single middle school guidance counselor who wears a shirt that nice. Not saying Banks shirst are such great shakes, but I'm still betting that shirt has long sleeves.

Their shirts are fine. I have JAB spread collar.

Their suits are terrible.

She may be hot in person, but that photo is decidely Not Hot in my esteemed opinion. Is that an Adam's Apple?

Yes, there shirts are fine. Not fabulous, but fine. I didn't mean to disparage them. I'm just saying they're a cut or two above the standard guidance counselor wear.

I actually like some of their suits. Not the cheapest line, but the line one up that is usually about $450-500 but often on sale for about $350. They sometimes have nice fabrics in that range and for some reason their cut suits (npi) me.

I have no opinion on Jos. A. Banks -- I was merely quoting a sebbyism.

Actually, you're right. Their upscale line is okay. I bought a suit from their cheapest line right out of law school - it's terrible.

It's a short week, what with Columbus day, and, for our friendly neighbors to the north, as well as French Canada, Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving, gwnc and str8!
