Is it that they need to drop the junior college players they perennially rely upon (UNLV basketball-like) and get back to providing an education to their students?

Because I think SMU and Baylor really need to do that.

Duke fans? Wow. Probably the biggest group of dorks. Ever. Complete fucking tools. I've never met a Duke fan that wasn't an annoying little piece of mouse shit.
I also hate Duke. One guy in our office is a horrible frontrunner fan. Watched the Duke-UCONN championship game with him and some other guys here -- everyone but him rooted against Duke. Naturally he was obnoxious the whole game as Duke led almost the whole way. Couldn't hear a peep out of him after UCONN went on to win, however.

People hate Duke because Redick, other players, K and their fans come off as arrogant tools. Also the constant fellating of Duke by ACCSPN adds to the problem. I was so pissed when Dockery hit that shot last night.

Pretty good prank pic some Maryland fans did on some Dukies:

Really Useful Music Site

In case anyone isn't aware of it, here's a really good site for discovering new music -- just plug in an artist or song you like and it will create a "radio station" of the artist and suggested similar artists. Reacts based on your responses to the songs it suggests and stores your responses. Links to Amazon and iTunes for anything you like.

Perhaps your crap non-Jesuit education is letting you down?

I keep calling USC SMU because but-for the SMU death penalty they are the same school and I've spent more of my life living in the vicinity of SMU.

Ps. This tends to piss off USC fans.
Pps. USC fans are mildly fun to piss off.

If I wanted a Jesuit education I'd start hanging out in gay bars.

Mildly? Just now being forced to listen to an impromptu meeting of 4 people outside my office praising the legend that is USC is enough to make me barf. Good thing I dislike UT fans as much.

My father was a cement worker. I was a cement worker. What's wrong with cement workers? It toughens you up to deal with all those East Coast prep school wankers in an appropriate fashion.

Plus it makes you relish each and every day the joy of knowing your life's ambition has been fulfilled... to have a big soft butt and an air conditioned office.

I've been a Duke fan since 1985-86, the team with Johnny Dawkins, Tommy Amaker, Mark Henderson, Mark Alarie, Jay Bilas, and Billy King that went to the Final Four and lost to Louisville. I wanted to go to Duke, but they didn't let me in, and I had to go somewhere else. Over the years, it's been harder and harder to root for them -- and I've been happier and happier not to be an alum -- because of their fans. But Coach K is a classy, classy act. I had the chance to interview him once, in a situation where it would have been very easy to blow me off, and he was just incredibly decent. When you think about the Bob Hugginses of the world, it makes it much easier to root for him and for Duke.

Would you ask your dad for college rankings? My father is a carpenter- I was a laborer all through college- my point was that numbskull has no business ranking colleges.

Coach K. is the hard part- for me the hypo
  • "Your son is being recruited for division I b-ball- Coach K has offered him a scholarship and so has Tom Izzo (or whoever is your favorite team)- your son wants your advice"

has an answer i'd rather not admit to myself.

edit- this is not to imply that this is a likely occurence. But as a lawyer I must anticipate the possible hard choices that might present themselves, however remote the liklihood.

I like my eggnog extra dry. Not a terribly difficult recipe. Simply wave the egg over a glass of vodka (or gin, or bourbon, or whatever else is available), and drink up.

Howdy all.
