Sisayehiticha Dinssa, an unemployed U.S. citizen, was arrested Tuesday after a dog caught the scent of narcotics on cash he was carrying, according to an affidavit filed in court.
When agents asked him if he had any cash to declare, he said he had $18,000, authorities said. But when agents checked his luggage, they found an additional $59,000. When they scrolled through his laptop, they said they found the mysterious files.
At a court hearing Wednesday, Dinssa was ordered held in custody until at least until Monday at the request of prosecutors.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Leonid Feller argued Dinssa was a potential risk to the community and federal agents want to get a warrant to search his computer more thoroughly, The Detroit News reported Thursday. U.S. Magistrate Donald Scheer approved Feller's request to detain him.
Dinssa, who is from Dallas, arrived in Detroit from Nigeria by way of Amsterdam and was headed for Phoenix, Feller said. He is charged with concealing more than $10,000 in his luggage, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, the Detroit Free Press reported.

It seems like they caught him without having to haul aside every dark skinned person with a funny name.

Which isn't, of course, what we currently do and so not what Pelosi was reacting to.

When the dark skinned persons with funny names stop perpetrating 98% of terrorist acts - almost always in the name of Islam - then I actually might care.
Until then, more, not less, should be hauled aside.

I read what Pelosi said -- or what Slave quoted -- as meaning that someone's religion, in itself, should not be sufficient. No one thinks you should ignore it.

She's dumber than shit for saying it. It doesn't score her any points with her base except for a very tiny faction of the looniest liberals, and just gives the GOP a talking point.
It's like the Left wing of the Dems wants to find ways to lose.

Running on an anti-corruption - well, anti-GOP anyway - platform, then one week later watching Pelosi trying to squeeze out Hoyer and Harman for her cronies "Abscam" Murtha and "Impeached" Hastings is high comedy.
I give the Dems points for shunning her and electing Hoyer.

What the heck? This fellow was busted after a drug dog alerted on his luggage . . .
Are you suggesting that someone is trying to say that this would be racial or religious profiling? Or that the Democrats are trying to ban the use of dogs?

Best possible result for her. I'm not sure she isn't pleased with the outcome.

It's like she thinks the next elections are two years away and she should actually think about governing. Crazy.

If it was checked bags, how do you know? From the posted story, it wasn't clear whether the narcotic-scented cash was in checked or carry-on luggage.
On a side note, what's the deal with carrying on now? Can you carry on laptops and stuff, just not toiletries (unless they are in small containers AND are in plastic bags)?

I haven't really followed this story, but I repeat a quote here because I liked the line.
- The report was surprising, particularly given that in the thousands of pages of Abramoff's emails, billing records and other documents released over the past two years, there's little evidence that the Republican lobbyist or his team worked very hard to persuade Democratic lawmakers to support their clients, legally or illegally.
Curious to learn more, we called a number of Abramoff's former colleagues from his heyday at the Greenberg Traurig lobby firm to see how the story struck them.
"Jack has not met eight Democrats in Washington," one lobbyist told us.
Link from Slave's favorite site EVAH, except of course for MyDD, Kos, and www.secretlyiwanttolickhowarddean.com
