Hilarious. You should be proud that you have worked so hard to put these people in power.

Yes, Virgil Goode is probably less than thrilled.
I read in the USA Today that Ellison and Goode shook hands and have arranged to meet for coffee. And that Dennis Kucinich (!) arranged the meeting, saying "they're two good people."

I read somewhere that for his swearing-in, Ellison got and will use the copy of the Koran that was once owned by Thomas Jefferson. Clever.
A slave owner's Koran? A guy who mistreated women?

How liberal or conservative are you? This quiz is more than a decade old, and some of the questions seem a little odd to me, but whatever.

I got a 14, on a scale of 0 (Jesse Jackson) to 40 (Ronald Reagan).

Those were some of the questions that I thought were odd. I have some sympathy with unions when they're in adversarial dealings with businesses, but "trust" doesn't really enter into it. I "trust" business more, in the sense that I enter into contractual relationships with businesses and expect them to abide by the agreements. And do I trust T.O. or Tom Brady? Al Davis or Bob Kraft?

Unbelievable:
  • According to Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) in a report released this week, Grand Canyon National Park is not permitted to give an official estimate of the geologic age of its principal feature, due to pressure from Bush administration appointees.

Furthermore, a book approved by the Service claiming the Grand Canyon was created by Noah's flood, rather than by geologic forces, is on sale in the park for more than three years, even though a review was promised to Congress and the press. A Freedom of Information request reveals that no review has ever been requested, nor taken place.

"In order to avoid offending religious fundamentalists, our National Park Service is under orders to suspend its belief in geology," stated PEER Executive Director Jeff Ruch. "It is disconcerting that the official position of a national park as to the geologic age of the Grand Canyon is 'no comment.'" PEER urged the new Director of the National Park Service (NPS), Mary Bomar, to end the stalling tactics, remove the book from sale at the park and allow park interpretive rangers to honestly answer questions from the public about the geologic age of the Grand Canyon.

Or maybe this is why George Bush lost money in the oil business?

That story sounds too good to be true. Apparently, it might be.

I feel better for saying it was unbelievable.

Kudos to the guy doing the debunking, but isn't it possible that some Park Service types were told to avoid answering questions on the issue and went to PEER, and that the Park Service is now backpeddling?
