Things I like about my Platinum Card:

1. Platinum Travel. Not just the bit about getting a compnion ticket for free when I buy a first class ticket, but the travel concierge, the upgraded rooms and the fact that they can often get me stuff that I can't get myself.

3. The replacement card thing. I got a new card once delivered to my hotel in 3 hours after I'd been pickpocketed. Amazing.

4. The airport clubs. 'Nuff said.

Wait a second -- there are platinum clubs at the airport?!?

I got a deal on a hertz rent-a-car with mine when I traveled to a sunny clime for a rockin' birthday party.

Then I went directly to the hotel to see how much the room AmEx would be upgrading me to would be. Your platinum card gets you into most airline clubs when you travel internationally. Doesn't always work when you travel domestically, but sometimes it's worth it to try... depends on how long you have to spend with the unwashed masses.

This took me a bit to figure out, but I think what he is saying is that Platinum Travel said, hey Thurgreed, reserve a standard room through us for the low low price of $250, and we will upgrade you to a deluxe suite for no charge! Then Thurgreed calls the hotel and they say, yo dude, AmEx is playin' you big time. The deluxe suite is only $200.

I just checked the benefit thingy, and it works in the Continental club thing. But it doesn't work at the American Airlines one.

What's the thing with the room upgrade? I'm going to be staying at a Howard Johnson's (or similar) in Hartford next month...
