I have honored my ex's request out of respect for him. I gave him no indication I would continue to do so.
I have asked him to reconsider his position as I believe it is unreasonable. I actually don't think he's entitled to any say in any sleeping arrangements that involve my bed.
We've agreed to disagree on the issue.

No. You are in excellent company on that one my friend. Someday we should get together, not eat pickles and go to a stripper bar.

Query: Does he follow the same rules? If yes, is it because he is not getting laid? If yes, will he follow the same rules if he ever has the opportunity to get laid on some regular basis again?
I am assuming he's a guy, and if so, applies the what's good for the goose is not good for the gander rules. For your sake, in fairness, I hope not.

He seems to be taking a long term view -- which is a good thing, all in all.

Get a life? You sound like ppnyc to TM. You requested input. After a while, I had to do something to relieve the huge amount of cognitive dissonance.

Actually, BnB's probably better off if he's getting some from another lady. Otherwise, he may try to get some from BnB. And in her current state, that would end. . . . Badly.
Course, Penske could keep the hubby entertained if he shared one of the lesser mares in his stable.

At the moment, he's just started seeing someone new. He's gone through a string of women since the divorce. Me, not so much.
I believe he has not had an overnight guest while the Brazenette has been at his house. It's easier for him, I suspect, since she spends all but 4 nights a month sleeping at my house.
And he hasn't taken her on vacation yet, while I vacation with her regularly.
I think the real truth is, he hasn't met anyone he wants to be part of the Brazenette's life, and I have. Which makes for a challenge.

Do you think some of this angst flows from depression over your lack of a career?

That's not really a challenge at all. You got lucky. He didn't. If he doesn't like it, that's his problem.
Sounds like a little bit of a double standard at work to me.
Its all water under the bridge now that you've bought the ticket; forget it and have a great vacation.

So he uses bacon fat instead of butter to make a grilled cheese sandwich. Given where he came from, it's a wonder he's even here at all. If he still eats his cheese in a primitive, awkward way, cut him some slack, and be proud of how far from his roots he is today. At least he now knows that the sandwich has cheese.

Given your last edit, I'd say you're very rank.

In defense of Hank (I don't think that I have ever said that before), I occasionally grill bacon and then immediately after make a grilled cheese in the same pan, and it's pretty good. But my heavily British-influenced childhood included a treat known as "bread and drippings" so maybe my tastes are a little off.

My grandmother would cook everything in bacon grease. Then again, she was from Louisiana. She would cook 7-course meals at the family cabin in Michigan and then join the grandkids on the slip-n-slide. All rules of etiquette applied - it didn't matter where you were. She also did not approve of women wearing pants. She was a true southern belle. She and my grandfather had a rule for my father/aunt: no kids were allowed in the dining room or kitchen for at least an hour after they got home from work - that was adults-only martini time.

Bacon fat is a nectar of the goods. It makes just about everything taste better.
