And just like that, I've got the title for the next Attican Bedshitter album. Thanks, all.

  • TULSA, Okla. - Hundreds watched Friday as a crane lifted a muddy package from a hole in the courthouse lawn: a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere buried to celebrate Oklahoma's 50 years of statehood.

    . . .

Also buried with it were 10 gallons of gasoline — in case internal combustion engines became obsolete by 2007 — a case of beer, and the contents of a typical woman's handbag placed in the glove compartment: 14 bobby pins, a bottle of tranquilizers, a lipstick, a pack of gum, tissues, a pack of cigarettes, matches and $2.43.

    . . .

"Probably across the pond people know about it," [Marlene]Parker said. "If nobody knew where Tulsa, Oklahoma was before, they do now."

Sky Blue Sky

Just bought tickets for Wilco in August. Very happy about that, though $35 plus inconvenience charges is a whole lot steeper than I've been paying of late. I think Son Volt was $15, for those keeping track of Jay and Jeff's respective finances.

I said it was not a word, but if it were a word it would be pronounced "fuck." They pretended they couldn't hear me so I kept saying it louder, always explaining afterwords that it wasn't even a word so it didn't matter. The teacher eventually understood that I wasn't trying to be difficult but was actually that naive when I started crying and made it clear to her that I honestly thought I was in trouble for being "bossy" or uppity by telling the boys they had spelled a word that did not exist. I had absolutely no idea that it was a bad word.
I went to an almost all white public elementary school in L.A. During my 6th grade year, the school district implemented busing. At one point, very soon after the busing had started, one of the students from the school with which we were being bused told me that if any of the tough hispanic kids messed with me, I should tell them to "lay off" in Spanish. He then proceeded to tell me how to say it. Which I learned. And repeated to the tough hispanic kids when they messed with me. For some reason, it didn't seem to help things. Later I learned that I had been telling them to fuck their mothers. Amazingly, I never got my ass kicked. Good to be a girl, I guess.

Great cautionary tale. thanks.

I wanted to give a warning to the women of the board. Science has found that giving lots of felatio prevents breast cancer.

For some reason it doesn't work if it's your husband though. Scientists aren't sure why, but it might be you are genrally immune to the benefits through familiarity. It is best if it's strangers.

Blade Runner

So when I tell people I have never seen Blade Runner, they are shocked. Same reaction to Planet of the Apes. Maybe someone will send me a copy.

Blade Runner is being released in what Warner is calling "The Essential 25th Anniversary Edition." Blade Runner is already famous for having what must be a record number of versions released before, during and after its 1982 theatrical release, and rumors have persisted for years that Ridley Scott would unveil a still newer cut of the movie with restored scenes that haven't made any of the myriad preceding versions of the sci-fi classic.

Internet sites have quoted foreign web sites that detail the Blade Runner 25th anniversary release as being a five-disc set with the restored 2007 cut of the film, accompanied by no fewer than four additional cuts of the film. The other versions are the 1982 US and International versions of the film, the 1992 director's cut, and my own personal favorite, the "work print" version of the film that audiences in LA and San Francisco saw prior to the release of the 1992 director's cut. And there's actually more, but if this HD DVD release has even half of this stuff this is the release Blade Runner fans have been waiting for a long, long time.

Although Warner supports both Blu-ray and HD DVD, Blade Runner is for now announced only for HD DVD. This has also been the case with Batman Begins and The Matrix trilogy, ostensibly due to the availability of superior interactivity features currently available from the HD DVD format and its players.

One of my favorite movies of all time. One of maybe a half dozen I would have fought for in the divorce, except that he only wanted American Pie and all the Matrix flicks and stuff like that. He was perfectly happy to walk away from Blade Runner and My Life's In Turnaround, and About Last Night. I think I got to keep Say Anything as well.

I think the director's cut is my favorite. I love when she says to him, "Are you testing whether I'm a replicant or a lesbian, Captain Deckard?"

Unfortunately the movers stole all of our DVDs in the move. Many special editions and Directors Cut. I remember a copy of the Terminator that was amazing. Gone forever.

OK, here is Paul Potts in the semi- finals of Britain's Got Talent. Only this time with a tux and more production value. And clearly a huge following now. Almost makes me want to make an international call to vote for him.
