What kind of e-mails have you sent? Just personal stuff? When you mention trusting their correction software, is that because typing on the screen causes more typos?

It really is a great product. Everything is seamless and intuitive. It's sleek, small, light, easy to use and beautiful. I have very few complaints. The internet is very slow if you're not in a wifi spot, but if you are, it's awesome. Email is easy and great, although it doesn't come in in real time (but we know they'll fix that and put blackberry out of business). Typing on the screen takes some getting used to, but once you trust their correction software, you can just type away and not worry about it. The camera works well. The ipod is better than any ipod on the market. I watched a movie on it and the definition is great. I put a bunch of photos on it and scrolling through them is lots of fun. The thing really has very few weaknesses and I can't imagine that, once the price drops, people won't replace their phone the first opportunity they get.

I saw my friend's Iphone on the weekend and got jealous. It's the first time ever I've had gadget envy.

On the weekend I drove a Prius for the very first time. My friend said the same thing I did when I first rode in one, which was that it's like riding in a Mac computer. Did Apple have anything to do with the Prius?

And speaking of more firsts (and I'm just throwing this in not to detract from Thurgreed's subject but (a) to publicly update PLF on my love life, and (b) because I'm excited), I am going on a date. A real, actual date where I already know and like the other person, not through some set-up or some internet dating site. And I haven't already drunkenly hooked up with him! I don't think this has happened to me since highschool.

A family member has an older Prius, and riding in it is nothing like riding in a Mac computer, unless you associate Macs with pointless uglyness (which I don't). I particularly found the dashboard -- with the controls mounted in the center -- distracting and unbecoming, and for no good reason. So perhaps they've updated the Prius?

eta: I am impressed by people who keep a fresh flower in the bud vase in their VW Beetles.

Hmm. They still have the screen in the center, but controls are also mounted on the steering wheel, and they are very intuitive. I also found the display on the center screen quite intuitive as well. The fact that you don't have to look down to see the speed, gas gauge etc is also very intuitive (at least to me). The joystick and the on/off button are also kind of fun and computer-like, I think. I didn't get a sense of pointless ugliness, but I am not really a car person, so whatever makes the driving experience fun and sort of relaxing is best for me.

When you type fast onscreen, the buttons are small enough that you accidentally hit the ones next to the one you want. this causes typos, but if you just keep typing, it knows what you're trying to type because the software (presumably) has those types of typos covered and it fixes them for you.

Does Apple ever drop prices for their products? Haven't Ipods generally stayed at the same price as when they were introduced?

Yes. They also improve the features while keeping the price the same.

It was the center-mounted screen that I liked the least when I was driving. I found it disconcerting to be looking to the side instead of ahead of me, and there was no good reason for it that I could see.

In general, the aesthetic was not particularly kicking, either, though perhaps they've improved things.
