I skipped flying home for our traditional thanksgiving/beach vacation, so I am doing absolutely no cooking today. Instead, I am attending an "orphan thanksgiving" as a guest. At this particular dinner, booze is prized over food, which feels right to me this year.

On this most American of American holidayz, is it a faux pas to do French wine?

My sister-in-law and I spent Wednesday preparing vegetable dishes and we went to town. We had eleven people.
Turkey was brined and air-dried overnight and then roasted. We used the cider glaze and gravy recipes from the final {sniff} Gourmet, which were fabulous. The dressing was made with sausage, pecans and apples.
Vegetable dishese were: Fennel and potato mash (epicurious/ Gourmet), sweet potato casserole, broccoli souffle, cauliflower gratin ( Fine Cooking), roasted brussel sprouts ( FC), dilly green beans ( Moosewood), creamed onions, pureed butternut squash, cranberry sauce (made by our resident cranberry farmer from hand-picked berries), and fruit salad.
Dessert was pecan, apple-cranberry and pumpkin pies and a pumpkin cheesecake.

the kind of celeb post a real man makes
from the CNN story about the crash, "Woods lives in Orange County with his wife, supermodel Elin Nordegren, and two children."
Supermodel? no fucking way. stunning? okay but she wasn't a supermodel. we need to be careful how we throw out titles IMHO.

It's fine. They do get some good deals on wine. On the food issues, I agree with him, and yet, having said that, also agree that I have had good meals made of Costco food products, although, having said that, I would much prefer to eat from the Pike Street Market and shop daily.

I have. In a spreadable cheddar cheese food log. With almond slivers.
