Might make Cooks Illustrated recipe for scallopped potatoes and add ham to turn it into a main dish.

Slightly less work than latkes: fondant potatoes.

Honestly, if Fugee doesn't want to spend the time frying latkes, grab a dozen Krispy Kremes. Fry some chicken. French fries.

I'm looking for easy peasy, not simply less work.

plan B- after dinner take the kiddies out to the nearest freeway overpass and teach them how to chuck spuds at the passing cars? no work and the hostess will like that you keep the youngsters occupied.

Let me get this straight -- pork and bacon are forbidden, and oil is regarded as "miraculous" but frying potatoes in melted butter, not so much? I'm starting to understand why over 5,000 years this religion never caught on with more than 1-2% of the population.

i usually don't respond to the same post twice, but have you factored in the repeated genocides?

Way to kill a light-hearted anti-Semitic joke. Kudos, really.

Let me put it in terms you may have an easier time getting your arms around. It's Good Friday, the church is packed. Halfway through communion, the wafers run out. Send one of the altar boys down to the Kwikee-Mart for a box of saltines?

In a pinch, that will do. "Body and blood of Christ? It appears he had hyper-tension."
eta: Or "He".

There was a minor kefuffle a few years back when an R.C. bishop got wind that a parish priest had been consecrating a few gluten-free wafers for the benefit of a youth with celiac disease (everybody else got the usual stuff). No, says the bishop, gluten-free bread isn't "bread" capable of being transubstantiated into the flesh of Christ, so gluten-free is a no-go. Someone shoulda told him that neither kind of bread is capable of transubstantiation, or at a minimum that the pressed and dehydrated disks they usually serve aren't "bread" either -- certainly not anything Jesus might have ever eaten, unless he were starving, which maybe he was.

you realize if Jesus was ever starving, or for that matter forced to eat something he found gross, then we have to admit the loaves and fishes is not a historical retelling. at least not an accurate one.
no offense.

Oh snap. The analogy would have been more apt if the scripture had mentioned Potsie instead of the devil, though.
