You would think. That's what I thought when I worked in a toy store -- "those parents must only give their son/daughter...." And, of course, having only one kind of toy leads you to want the same things.
But to various extents, some boys will gravitate towards traditional boy toys, and some girls towards girl toys, regardless of what they already have. I've also seen infants, who were too young for their toys to be very much different, gravitate towards older-kid toys in the same way. It's weird.

Though it's not the provenance or even the quality that counts. It's whether it nonetheless can blast the crap out of Ken.

The point is that it fucks kids up when their parents dislike/hate each other. It just so happens that parents who dislike/hate each other, tend to get divorced.
The problem with most of the studies that were done in the past is that they purport to show that divorce is bad when they never even try to assess the level of conflict in the parental relationship. The real issue is how good the relationship is between the parents, not whether they stay together or not. It just so happens that parents with a good relationship tend to stay married. Hence the observed correlation between marriage and mentally healthy children.

I refuse to believe the rantings of anyone named Dr. Jingzhong Ding bing bing bing. Except for this part...Ding said researchers cannot make a definitive cause-and-effect link between drinking and brain atrophy because the MRIs were done only once during the study and because they found only a small reduction in tissue.

Indeed. Carry on. Though I would think old Joe would prefer to kill Ken in horribly gruesome ways with his bare hands...

I agree. As I told a socker off-board, I issued a preemptive warning before the storm surge of suckass socks arrives to drown us in a sea of lame.

You're assuming (or maybe your author has documented) that there was no correction for "we hate each other but we stayed married" parents in the study. If there truly was, (and I thought that was the case), then they've controlled for that, I would think.
But, in any event, I am too A/C to not read this now that I have it.

No, no--Barbie does the capping. Though she could surely kill Ken with her bare hands as well.

This is your brain on alcohol
shhhh. Next you are going to tell me that those cigarettes with the "low birth weight" warning will, even though I am not pregnant, hurt me just as much as those with the "causes emphysema" warning. Stay out of my lilttle world.

Update on the chocolate

After e/o's rave reviews on the Miles of Chocolate, I headed to Whole Foods this morning to check it out and see if I should forego the brownies I was planning in making and buy some of that instead. I was a little daunted by the price ($51 for a 8x12 sheet of the stuff), so I bought a single serving and brought it to the office. I had originally intended to share it with my co-workers and see if it was a big hit, but I've taken a bite, and I've now decided that $51 is a bargain and my co-workers will have to kill me if they're going to get a single crumb of this dessert.
In conclusion, Miles of Chocolate is phenomenal.

I heart you, and not even for your Miles of Chocolate (is there an Atkins version). Lemon bars, flan, gingerbread, mmmmmm.
Still, with all this buzz, can't wait for Miles of Chocolate to hit So. Cal. What's the company that makes it? Are they public?

And who knows if it was even important tissue that was being reduced? Maybe it was the tissue containing all of the memories of that geek the patient dated in the 8th grade -- forgetting that might be a bonus.

I am so blue.
I don't know why but today I fell like I could burst into tears in a heartbeat.
Any advice?

Let's hope it picks the right part of your brain to reduce -- the part making you blue, that is.

If only it were something that could be turned on and off. Flower's post, before the post on the murder, spoke of things Flower did to establish "Old School Cred."
My post might be stupid in a vacuum. At the time, however, it was intended merely to echo his prior post comment.
