True. Many Duke fans often adopt the motto, "Well, he's an SOB, but at least he's our SOB."

Remember when golden boy Laettner stomped on that guy who was on the ground? Did he even get a "T?" If Larry Johnson had done that, he would have been hitting the showers.
Yes, the UConn player. Yes, he did. Yes, he would've.

Laettner was a pretty boy, and he even tested the above motto.

And enough with the Hurley and Wojoweroaiuoeaiuwrjwx are so tough and mentally strong. I'll give you Hurley. But he wasn't the best point guard in the NCAAs then. He just had the most talented people to pass to.
Wojo was a fan favorite because he was so obviously outmatched physically, and tried to make up for it in hustle. And, at about 5'8", he became loved sort of like a team pet.

Jesus. And don't get me started on when UNLV threw that game to Duke.
Ummm, ok.

And not to mention, at a time when there really weren't any other strong teams. Put the 90s Bulls in the mid-eighties with the Celts and Lakers, as well as Rockets and Pistons, and they don't win shit, at best one championship. Hell, if Len Bias doesn't snort coke and Magic keeps his willie in his pants, they might not have won more than one in teh 90s eitehr.

I don't like him at all. His whole zen/I buy my players books like "The Art of War" crap is complete bullshit. He does nothing. His assistant coach (Tex Winters) invented the triangle offense. Not him. And have you ever seen him coach at the end of the game? Uh...no. "Get the fuck out of Jordan's way, you morons."

He's always had the best player(s) in the league on his squad. He is the most overrated coach in the history of sports and I don't care how many rings he has.

Latener paid the ref off in blow jobs.

Oh, shit... I left out Dickie Vitale and his "I want to blow every Duke player" horsehit. He's a fucking flagrant Duke fan. Isn't there some sort of conflict there? I know Summerall used to root for the Giants, but at least he was subtle. Vitale all but jacks off on air when Duke is rolling. That bald prick got double teamed by Laetner and Hurley... its just obvious.

I dated a chick who swore Scacred Hoops was the greatest book ever. God, did she turn out to have shit for brains...

It wouldn't have been ethical to edit Burger's post just to please you.

Sports *stars* I fucking hate

In order (includes athletes and non):

Brett Hull (far and away my most despised person)
Bill Walton (unlistenable, unwatchable)
Jim Lampley
Chris Chelios
Dick Vitale (a buffoon, and not remotely entertaining. unlistenable)
Derek Jeter

I'll meet you in your choice of ladies' rooms, and then go back and edit it myself.

Just be sure to bring some fabric softener to keep your ass safe from the faucets.

I've never understood this one. Sure, he hypes things up immensely, but what announcer doesn't? Marv Albert? Bill Walton? Al Michaels? And, yez, he's a bit past his prime, a la Dick Clark, but in his heydey he was one of the best at his job, which, at the time, required hyping events that did not have 72 hours of advanced coverage by three sports networks already doing teh hype for the game.
Its a combination of his not-so-funny obervations and his unattractive "I've got a severely deviated septum" delivery.

He doesn't hype anything. He actually de hypes things.

All that said, I'd rather listen to Brent than Vitale. Why Vitale is considered such an aseet to college ball just because he's a hyper-caffienated lunatic who can barely catch his breath on air is beyond me. Does he know what he's talking about? Absolutely. Does his delivery ruin the message? Entirely.

For 6 Saturdays of the year, Notre Dame is unbelievable. Almost magical when they're good. The other 359 days of the year, it might as well be Siberia.
