 | I'm looking into this. I think you should e-mail it to leagleaze because I know she has done that before with information on some of the other boards (for example, copies of petitions/answers in lawsuits). |

 | Caution! Last week someone said don't give answers if you aren't sure you're right. I forgot who.

				Last Minute Trips

 | I incorporate by reference my answer to the stupid things done for sex and love poll.

But since most answers to this poll run towards the sappy end, I'll pile on:

A couple of years ago my grandparents were making their annual spring trek from their house in Florida up to the ancestral homeland in the northern Mid-West, driving the Airstream as they had done for at least the 20 years prior. My grandfather had a heart attack in Terra Haute, Indiana. My mother (who had been driving with them) called me a little after 11 am, I was on a plane by 1, and got to Indiana by about 6 (layover in Cleveland, maybe?) and the hospital by about 6:45. His heart stopped for the last time at about 8:30. I was holding his hand. The doctor said she was surprised he had lasted the entire day, and it was as if he were waiting for me to get there.

I had no clothes except the suit I was wearing when I got the call, no toothbrush, etc.

Totally, completely worth it. |

The essay I quoted above sets out some conventions for humor, which may prove useful for the posters here who keep working with this material:
 CONVENTIONS OF THE SEX JOKE
 (i) Marriage only benefits the women. Every many is plotting seduction and every woman is plotting marriage. No woman every remains unmarried voluntarily.

(ii) Sex-appeal vanishes at about the age of twenty-five. Well-preserved and good-looking people beyond their first youth are never represented. The amorous honey-mooning couple reappear as the grim-visaged wife and shapeless, mustachioed, red-nosed husband, no intermediate stage being allowed for.

 CONVENTIONS RE HOME LIFE

 (i) There is no such thing as a happy marriage.
(ii) No man ever gets the better of a woman in argument.

Fortunately, your advice was correct. Email me the item in question and I'll post it.

PS. He's looked like a total wuss ever since he shaved off the mustache when she left. you know it. I know it.
 | It's not so much the loss of the mustache as the air of resigned humiliation that he wears after being dumped for Mr. Rooter. |

 | I'm with dtb. I think looks fall into a bell curve adjusted for plastic surgery -- very few hideous people, then moving up the curve to a big mass of basically average looking people, some on the uglier side of average and some on the good looking side. Plastic surgery skews the bell curve to the extent that some people who'd be on the uglier side of average can move, sometimes dramatically, toward good looking so there are more 7-10s than 1-4s. Maybe Minnesota is full of people who are inoffensively bland at worst, but I don't see a lot of ugly people. |

Looks and National Day of Purity

Some high shcool kids are celebrating today as National Purity Dayhttp://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...ay_of_purity_1
One has to wonder whether those who are celebrating are just too ugly to get laid. |

So there is some possibility that it might snow in Dallas tonight or over the weekend. Perhaps even up to 3 inches! As you can imagine, people are leaving early and rushing to the grocery store to stock up on supplies. Thank god no one is panicing yet!
I now return you to your regularly scheduled Friday Flamewar, not yet in progress.

 | Apparently it's going to be up to a foot in Bell County. We have a new employee who is commuting from Temple, and she left an hour ago to beat the snowstorm. I wouldn't want to drive with other drivers like me in these conditions.

I suggest that anyone in Houston find refuge from the cold and snow flake at the Museum of Natural History tomorrow, when the Chocolate exhibit opens. Word on the street is that Miles himself will be there.
