Crack, the other white meat?

Is crack any worse than meth, or heroin, or oxycontin in terms of how likely it is to derail an otherwise normal life?

It is no worse than powdered cocaine that is for sure. I agree. Crack has gotten a bad rap and the reason it has is racism and classism.

Dunno why, but now I'm imaging Howard Cosell announcing this stuff, and yelling something like "Down goes Frazier; Down goes Frazier . . . "

It's far more glamorous to snort powder into your nostrils. More classy, so classism may have something to do with it.
eta Doh! No PMs necessary. I was asleep at the wheel.

The Yugo got a bad rap, too, for the same classist reasons. It was cheap shit.

Apropos of nothing, their "buy a little freedom/buy a Yugo" ad jingle always cracked me up. That Marshal Tito was *such* a card!

Should I post the final round results with picture of the kid who won? I'm worried about spoiling people. ;-)

I think he did some stand-up before his rampaging mass murderer stint. Only later did everyone realize how funny he really was.

So is it any surprise that KFC's ad campaign about its healthy food was found to be deceptive?

"Scheherazadian" and "lyophilize" I'll give you, although I don't know what one of them means and can't pronounce the other.
But "schwarmerei"? "Gaminerie"? WTF? No wonder the furriners are beating the tar out of us. Shouldn't there be some sort of requirement that you're only expected to know English words?

Hope Jack's not suicidal.
"The ad depicts a man surprised when he recognizes a friend who is sitting on the tailgate of a truck eating KFC fried chicken. 'Jack?' the first asks, 'Is that you? Man, you look fantastic! What the heck you been doing!?' 'Eatin’ chicken,' Jack replies."

I generally feel like an idiot when I look at the list of words they're expected to spell. I don't know a majority of them, and spelling them would be a guess at worst. I always went out in the third or fourth round in our elementary school spelling bee, and I never advanced to the school finals.
ETA Picture of "furriner":

It is the lower price of crack that makes it more of a problem, not anything intrinsic in smoking it verses snorting it in powder form. Because it cost less, it is easier for those in poorer areas to get it. So it became a drug used by poor blacks in high crime areas and got this rap that it somehow was responsible for all the violence that occurs when you mix concentrated poverty and making drugs illegal (and thus profitable for criminals to sell).
There is zero evidence that smoking it is in any way more addictive. Cocaine is not physically addictive like heroin is. Cocaine is only psychologically addictive like pot is.

What is the fascination with the spelling bee thing? I mean, ESPN is showing it live? WTF? They aren't even real words, for crying out loud.
Call me crazy, but the idea of watching a 12 year old crumble under the pressure of spelling "zrygisticghtrmthges" on live TV (while his stage mother chews on her nails) just doesn't do it for me.
