Gale Harold. Apparently he's in Queer as Folk (which I've never seen), and he guested as the villain in last Friday's SVU. He looked familiar to me the whole time, and I finally figured out that he just looked like a more mature Ashton Kutcher.

Sadly, this has turned into the All TV, All The Time, network.

Apparently, GA's just work and veg by the tube.

If someone develops a new model of GA that rafts, shoots, vedls, short swings, pops, rappels, wheelies, crashes and burns, or even just klitches, please call the rest of us. At that point, you are actually doing something with the short time that you have.

Until then, my god, you people are doomed.

To death, or boredom. I'm not sure which is worse. But, I think you all deserve better.

STOP THE TUBE SHIT!

Report from the Staple.

Just got back from watching the champs get officially dethroned. Go Spurs (hi e/o). Anyways, one of the highlights was that time when Tim Duncan made that basket, and that other time that Tim Duncan made that other basket. Seriously, the Lakers were totally not hustling at all, relative to the Spurs (esp. Manu Ginobli, who, in every offensive rebound situation, lulls his man to sleep and then darts somewhere improbable on the chance that the ball winds up there -- a surprisingly effective technique). Anyways, another highlight was when the "Kiss Cam" came on the scoreboard. For those of you whose hometown arena hasn't picked up on the Kiss Cam, they show couples on the scoreboard and the couples then kiss each other, with some kissing song on (tonight it was Sixpence None the Richer's "Kiss Me"). So they put Kate Hudson and her sleazeball husband up on the scoreboard, and they smooched appropriately.

I think the key moment of the game was right after Kobe hit his 3 with 8 seconds left in the third to cut the Spurs' lead to 7. Tony Parker then took the ball down the floor for an uncontested layup. At that moment, the Lakers and their fans just started to look like "WHA HAPPENED?"

No parade down Figueroa this year. The Western Conference Finals is going to be a series for the ages. I kinda hope it's all Texas, but SA/SACTO would be awesome too.

Okay. My first custom made handbag ever is arriving today!

I don't plan on watching TV again. Instead, I will be gazing into its Tangerine Sparkle beauty, watching the light gleaming tenderly off its luxurious fabric, casting the light of diamonds into my home.

Crap. I better not wear it around any lawyers--I'd be outable.

Oh, and shut the hell up, Thurgreed.

I am so happy this series is over, if only to preserve domestic tranquility. The OM's only acknowledgement of his SoCal childhood is his unconditional love of the Lakers, so the past six games have been uncomfortable.

Though it's wildly early to say this, after watching the Spurs overcome the Lakers, it looks like the rest of the playoffs is a race for second place.

the reason most people (at least me) wanted the Lakers to lose was to have hope for our team's chances. But you're probably right; it's false hope. ain't none of them stopping the Spurs. If only the Pistons still had Mahorn/Laimbeer there would be the chance of someone injuring Duncan.

During the game, our topic of conversation switched from the playoffs to which free agents might be joining the Spurs in the offseason with their nearly 20M in cap room.

With the way Tony Parker has been playing, the Jason Kidd deal may be less useful than recruiting someone like Jermaine O'Neal for big presence and athleticism.

Speaking of offseason pick-ups, the Lakers need to find someone they can afford to complement Shaq and Kobe.

Last samurai
No, no, he is training an army to fight against samurai. Samurai didn't work for the Emperor, like knights in the western feudal system, they were independent warlords. And any half-assed western army was going to kick the shit out of samurai; the emperor sensibly wanted it to be his half-assed western army rather than, say, Britain's, or China's.

Notwithstanding, this isn't increasing my pulse as movie material, though I am usually favorably surprised by Cruise. (Except for everything he has ever done with Nicole Kidman.)

Back to Brazil

Several women of the board mentioned that they were "at-home" brazilian waxers. My question: what home product do you use? (And how do you reach? Lots of yoga?)

Guns N' Weiland

Speaking of offseason pickups:

Scott Weiland has joined the original Guns N' Roses.

Guns N' Weiland
By Josh Grossberg

. . . .

"Yeah, I'm in the band...We signed the contract," Weiland confirmed to Rolling Stone during a Marilyn Manson show at Los Angeles's Key Club Monday night.

. . . .

Featuring Slash on guitar, Duff McKagen on bass and Matt Sorum on drums, the heavy metal sort-of supergroup is called Reloaded. While not an official member, former GNR guitarist Izzy Stradlin has chipped in writing songs in the studio.

Apparently - the runnerup was Sebastian Bach, formerly of Skid Row [and the Broadway version of Jeckyll & Hyde]

I personally think Bach is a better fit musically - and adding Weiland just about guarantees the tour will end abruptly with an OD and an arrest.

Here's my prediction, which is coming completely out of my ass.

Shaq will not be with the Lakers next year.

I have a very dim recollection of it, but I went to his eighth birthday party. I only remember that the candles on his cake were shaped like little hockey sticks and I told my mother I wanted those for my next birthday cake. He was a very cute kid. I don't think I ever said two words to him though. Not sure how I finagled a birthday party invitation.
