This explains it all. We shouldn't have attacked Iraq in the late 1980's when Saddam Hussein was murdering babies but we had a good relationship with him. We should have attacked him later when he was still murdering babies but our relationship had deteriorated. Thanks for the moral clarity!

And what do you think about the GOP firm that was registering Democrats in Nevada and destroying the forms? Shouldn't someone be going to jail? Usually it's the GOP who are all agitated about voter fraud.
|
If trus, yes, they should.
But the firm making the allegations has ties to ACORN, which has its own voter registrations scandals making the headlines.

Would it really hurt you that much to say that destroying voter registrations is a bad thing? Come on, this really isn't a tough one.
BTW, this wasn't lower level - this was a hired company, management ordered it to be done, and the whistle was blown by the lower levels.

Speaking of which, it's not just in Nevada. Arizona, Oregon, West Virginia, Pennsylvania

What firm? The story I saw was from a Las Vegas TV station (the local CBS affiliate -- uh oh), which broke the story after having a former employee bring them proof.

I'll admit to tearing down an opponent's signs once while placing signs for my candidate. I was a Republican at the time.

I think that most Republicans and Democrats are equally opposed to voter fraud, but that some Republicans use such allegations tactically as cover/in connection with efforts to suppress votes by predictably Democratic groups, like Native Americans in South Dakota and blacks in Florida. It's no secret that the GOP in those states (just to name two examples) would like to discourage turnout by those groups, and voter fraud becomes the pretext.

The missing part being that we tried your beloved sanctions first before invading. Tell me again how much you liked the results of those sanctions, Ty. Or that as bad as they were, at least there were no "civilian war casualties", right? Much better to be a "sanctions casualty" than a "civilian war casualty." I'm sure the dead kids know the difference.

This is an unusually open statement from you. You usually keep your political beliefs close to the vest.
Do you have more or less sex toys in your box now compared to then?

I was confused a bit myself.
Ok, here is the link to the story
This is what is interesting:
Quote:
The focus of the story is a private registration company called Voters Outreach of America, AKA America Votes....
former employees of the company say that Voters Outreach of America only wanted Republican registrations.
|
However, look at America Votes. This organization is tied to every left-leaning group out there, including ACORN, which is accused of voter fraud in CO, OH and PA.
Something clearly ain't right - whatever it is.

Contrary to the assertions of some in the NAACP, attempts by the GOP to win more of the black vote is not the same as "suppression" of the black vote.

I was going to say this, except without the NAACP part. I think its more than just the NAACP trying to keep blacks shackled to the Democratic party.

Sanctions are a shitty way of trying to change a regime. Haven't we proved that with Cuba and China? But they worked to keep Saddam from developing WMD. Some of us think that foreign policy is about our national security, and not just your rosy-eyed idealism. I think we should lift the sanctions on Cuba -- I take it you would invade?

Maybe so, but that's not what I'm talking about either. I'm not even talking about clever media buys calculated to depress turnout among blacks.

It's a different America Votes.
Hmmm. Republican operation registering voters but throwing out any that aren't Rs adopts tradename that is identical to that of one of the major coalitions doing voter registration. How are things in Denmark?
