Either Cooks' Illustrated (Cooks? Cook's?) or Cooking Light had an excellent short article on the difference between a crumble topping (drier, flourier) and, uh, the other kind (wetter, meltier). I found it after I asked on the board, and after the pie would have been made, had we not decided that our arguing about how to make it didn't bode well for cooking it.
ETA Cooking Light (most recent issue I've received, has Thanksgiving stuff in it) has a recipe for brown-sugar glazed sweet potato wedges. I made them this weekend (1/4 of the recipe) and they were delicious. Wow.

I'll cook one with a wetter, meltier topping with you whenever you want. Fuck dry, floury toppings.

You're on, baby. But I think a nasty infection might result from fucking dry, floury toppings.
ETA Are you anti-cornstarch in pie fillings, too?

Britney taking a break
Maybe to take a shower or to run a comb through her hair.
The newly-married singer is telling fans that, while she’s not quitting the business, as some have said, she’s taking a couple of years off before touring again.
“My new hobby is experimenting with all different types of art lessons,” Spears wrote in a new letter to fans. “Maybe I’ll even do my sister’s make-up next year for big events.
Spears also says she’ll be busy decorating her house (like fringey!!) and starting a family.
Spears also promises that we’ll be seeing more of her new hubby, Kevin Federline. “When I really come back, things will be totally different,” Spears says. “Until then, there are some things close to me that you might be interested in seeing. For one, you will be able to get a taste of my fine hubby on a few covers.”
Gack. Here's to hoping that she never comes back. She'll be old and haggard with stretch marks and her trailer park husband with 9 kids by then will be wearing a wife beater with holes holding a Bud. Nice cover art that'll be.

To fuck or to cook? If the former, I think you've answered your own question, no?

How do we get out?
B/c I have no desire to self-evolve myself into a trial lawyer.
Help me.

That's a cobbler, not a crisp.
And stop it. I am hungry.

Done. And I'm taking nominations for the thread name. "Cooking with lawyers" was off the top of my head, and I'm sure that it could be improved upon greatly.

I like Gattigap's "To fuck or to cook". Sounds vaguely Hamlet-esque.

I thought cobblers had a crust on the bottom. Are you saying dry floury top is cobbler and wet sugary topping is crisp, or vice versa?

Feh. I give Federline six months to help Britney blow through all her dough, then she'll come back in such a rush that she'll go downmarket. We'll be lucky if she's wearing something so conservative as a wife-beater.
In related news, the Defamer tells us that Britney has really gotten the letter-writing bug, and has moved on to graffiti art. Look for her stuff to start gracing the exterior walls of Fendi on Rodeo.
- Britney Spears' recent writing bug has really gotten out of hand. During a recent shopping trip on Melrose, she was so gripped with creative fervor that she scrawled some "Graffiti of Truth" on a wall at a vintage t-shirt shop. Someone ought to sneak a camera into the employee bathroom, just in case she penned a secret epilogue to her latest masterpiece. We'd hate for any of her words to be lost to literary history. That would be so un-wicked.
