Sing it, sistah!

Sorry. In Los Angeles, we have to say that.*

Now, now, don't be too hard on yourself. It probably doesn't cost you much more than about $180 a week.

Say $5000 a year in depreciation or lease payments, $1500 a year for gas and $500 for insurance (you are a good driver, right?), plus, what, $200 a month for parking at the office. $9400/52~=$180 a week.

But at least you get to sit in traffic.

(Of course, pot, kettle, etc.)

Ask me how much I spend on lunch a month if you want to prove a point. But you knew I would answer that, didn't you?

Alas, no. I spend all my money on taxis.

Truth be told, after 9/11, I became a little phobic of the subways -- not that the subway would be a good alternative for my work commute anyway -- but I won't take the subway during peak travel hours. Happily, my office isn't downtown, because that would be one expensive cab ride. I actually declined a job interview at a place that was downtown because of the subway issue. If I'm going downtown on a weekend or in the evening, however, I will take the subway -- for going downtown (or Yankee Stadium, or the Bronx Zoo, etc.) it's the only way to go.

So how much do you spend on lunch a month?

(Just curious, really, no point to prove.)

To answer for myself, about $100-120 (out twice a week at $10-12, in twice a week at $2.50-4.00, and miss lunch/grab leftovers from some meeting once a week).

You walk at a 9:20 pace?

I know it's lazy; I always walk when I leave at 6. When I leave at 8, I want to get home.

None of your business.

Crap. Now I have to do the math.

I've been trying to bring my lunch because I spend way too much. But I end up only doing that for a week and then get lazy. I also try to eat just vegetables for lunch when I don't bring lunch, but that usually lasts only about a week at a time as well. The rest of the month is expensive eating.

I probably spend $150 - $200 a month on lunch.

Seriously, dude -- a 9:20 pace?!? Damn. It's all I can do to run for 1/2 an hour at an ever-so-slightly-under-9:00 pace. I know, I'm pathetic.

I wish I still smoked. Smoking was so damn satisfying. I tried in Vegas after a three year hiatus about a year ago and hated it. I really wanted to like it, too.

I don't care how much I spend on lunch, because I rarely have to pay for my own dinner or drinks.

oooh, same with us! We conned our grandparents into thinking that we were allowed to have fuit loops when we went to visit, so they kept them on hand.
