And, actually, I did respond to the original comment. The sexism on the show pisses me off. Trump is obviously a pig; did you catch his comment about Ivana's ass, or something like that? The tasks are set up to greatly encourage flirting and similar behaviour, and then those who do so are punished for it when it doesn't work out. And people obviously cross the line and make asses of themselves, like Katerina last time and Ivana this time.

Suggesting that the way to get a high-powered job is to look great in a suit and flirt a lot makes successful women look trashy and cheap. None of the female non-contestants on the show are successful because of that; Caroline, the Pepsi president, the Genutech executive are all normal looking (even homely looking) women who have gotten where they are by exceling in their fields, by being articulate, intelligent and driven. I think it's really sad that TM's daughter is watching this show or shows like it or just learning about these attitudes and thinking that is how the world works. It's even sadder if it's actually true. It's hard enough being his daughter, and now she has to deal with all this shit, too.

I think that I can still make critical comments about the body and face of a woman who appears in a magazine like Maxim without showing disrespect for her substantive accomplishments. If you disagree, fine, but that's a total double standard considering all the shit that goes on around here. And I don't know how you could think that Jen was not a bitch. Maybe she would be called an "asshole" if she were a guy, but she was obviously doing all sorts of things to rub people the wrong way. And she came across as way too aggressive and abrasive in the boardroom and all the interviews. Making objective statements and subjective judgments about women, even if they are negative or based on physical appearance, doesn't make me a pig. Last night WEEI, the Red Sox station, re-broadcast Game 7 of the ALCS. Yes, the whole game, with commercials. I listened while driving around doing errands. It provided a break from the bad Christmas music that is all over the radio these days.

The big question mark now is actually pitching. Wells has been a consistent winner, with winning records 4 of the last 5 years and 3 of those four (not last year) very solid winning records. But he's clearly feeling the signs of age.

Schilling, despite all the rhapsodizing about his consistency, has only had winning records 3 of the last 5 years. He had a great year last year and still looks good, but historically getting a good year out of him is about a 50/50 proposition and he can't have more than two or three good years left in him.

A lot rests on Schilling. If he can both have a good year and be a solid leader to the pitching staff, there's hope. If not, wait til next century.

I have never been super impressed by Ljungberg, especially his international play. Fuck, I could score goals with Arsenal in the last couple of seasons, and he only managed a few the last two seasons. And he has been disappointing with Sweden, Euro 2004 notwithstanding. Cool hair, though. And he's certainly a nice-looking dude. Google says he's in the gaywired.com Top 10 Men Celebrity list. I don't know if that means he's gay or just considered attractive by gay men.

there are rumors about his being gay, that's for sure. I think such rumors dog all attractive soccer players. I have no idea which way he swings - I just like to look at him.

I thought he was 33. Yes, a 5 year deal for a catcher in his 30's is insane especially a deal with a no trade clause. He's a decent hitter, but not a DH kind of hitter. Not now and defintely not 2 or 3 years from now (unless he starts working out with Barry Bonds' trainer). Tek is a team leader and with all the new pitchers they've signed in the past few weeks they need him.

Scott Boras will probably screw this up more than the Red Sox. Does he really think that ANY team will sign Varitek to a big number 5 year deal??

See, that's what you're not getting. You say it's fun to shoot your mouth off and defend what you've said but then suggest that there's something wrong with people wanting to "beat you up" for what you've said. Should I pick on your looks instead? You want to be challenged, but you dismiss those who like to challenge you? Talk about hypocrisy.

I don't have a "preconceived" notion about you. My notions about you have been formed by what you have posted, and quite naturally that effects how I perceive you. That's a basic facet of human intelligence.

I don't want to think you are a misogynist. I think your posts come across as misogynistic. When you reduce a woman to her parts -- great tits and stomach, haggard face without caked on makeup -- you don't seem like a man who loves women. Haggard is a really nasty, loaded thing to say about a woman, and given how smart you think you are, you should know that.

Further, when you say there's an "appropriate line" for women in the workplace, you imply that there are different appropriate lines for women and men. We both know that there aren't. The line is between aggressive and abusive. The difference is that women are often perceived as having crossed that line earlier than men are -- by both men and women. As a result, they have to be more careful about it because they won't get the same results men would get.

I don't think it's unfair to criticize a woman who wants to succeed in business for failing to recognize that point. Your point was that the woman on the Apprentice was so far over the line that there could be no reasonable argument that people were judging her more harshly because she is a woman. That's a valid point. But don't be such a fucking pussy about it -- just call her a bitch and don't try to go all Alan Alda on our asses.

And the mere fact that you have lamented sexism on the Apprentice doesn't mean that you don't have sexist attitudes. It's about as convincing as "How about that Denzel Washington? Great actor."
