This whole scenario explains the eery similarity between Hank's avatar and the pimp character on Carnivale.

I don't think anyone disagrees with Vick being amazing. He's clearly a gifted athlete. He is a horribly inaccurate passer. If Mora had any balls, he would completely re-invent the offense around Vick. No traditional offense bullshit. Fuck it - run the option with him. Vick's new position should be QB/Tailback. He should have a designed running play once every 4 downs.

Roethlisburger was overfuckingrated. Good God. And you can throw Peyton Manning in there as well.

Ben won games. It's the same thing Brady did when he won his first Super Bowl. Nothing fancy - just winning.
Peyton is a crybaby, but I don't think he's overrated. 49 TDs is 49 TDS.

Tom Brady is quite good, but also overrated given the number of times the broadcasters suck his dick on the air.

Maybe they're trying to make up for cock-blocking him for so long with Favre, Manning and Vick.

You speak the truth.
Jimmy Mora is a stupid fucking coach. The worst part about the Falcons' success this season is that he gets to keep his job a couple more years so he can completely squander Vick's talent.

Would it be rude to tell a chipper sort who you have never met that to use at least one exclamation point in each paragraph is extremely off putting?
(I presume they are chipper by the exclamation point usage).
Oh, and is Ohio in the midwest or what?

You would think that a younger coach would figure it out. I could see Schottenheimer or Jow Gibbs fucking this up, but someone less sold on traditional football theory should be able to realize that Vick can't be used like ANY other QB that has every played the game.

The problem with Vick is that they work with him in the pre-season on his mechanics and form. But then during the actual season, it's like they give up on all that shit and want him to run every down. Get the guy some receivers and then force him not to run for just one game. His problem is that instead of looking for receivers to throw to, he's looking for things to break down so he can make a break for it. Watch McNabb when he starts to scramble around. He's always looking downfield. Once Vick gets some pressure, the ball is tucked and his mind is made up.
I thought Mora had them poorly prepared for that game and he made absolutely no adjustments.

You can suck it. Brady sits back there with an average of like 12 seconds to throw a pass. He usually makes the right decision when he doesn't have that much time, which makes him a very good quarterback. But it's amazing how he sits back there for so long, waiting for people to get open, and then when someone does and he hits them for 15 yards, he's the best quarterback ever. Put Culpepper on that team and they score even more often.

He had zero against the Patriots. None. Zilch. Nada. What's his excuse?

I think most people would choose Culpepper over Brady. I would.

I don't understand that commercial. I think it's over my head. Is it for a credit card? What's it for? What does it mean?
I also don't understand that commercial where one woman thinks the other woman is pregnant and she's not and the woman who made the mistake says "thank you" and it's all ok. Doesn't make any sense. You don't say "thank you" after making a mistake, you apologize.

Are you kidding? Watch ESPN sometime. "Is he the greatest quarterback of all time?" "Is he a lock for Canton?" "I've never seen a quarterback make the right decisions as often as he does." Etc. I think the guy was in the right place at the right time. He's played very well, but he gets way too much credit.

So, how many of you have negotiated with someone you have seen in full glory? This may be mildly distracting.

Actually, due to Stu Scott, Berman's devolution, etc., I guess I don't watch that much ESPN anymore. I'll amend to say that I think most knowledgeable fans would choose Culpepper over Brady.

I don't know why there is Oscar buzz for this flick. It was a good little movie, but come on. It doesn't deserve to win anything. I guess it's just a weak Oscar year.

2004 was a really weak movie year.
My guess is that Sideways, ESOTSM, The Aviator, Before Sunset, Million Dollar Baby, and the Incredibles will be the big Oscar movies this year. Nominations come out tomorrow, I think. Hotel Rwanda, Supersize Me, Maria Full of Grace, A Very Long Engagement, and Osama will probably also get some Oscar noms. Jamie Foxx will get at least one nomination. I'm assuming Almodovar will also be getting a nod, though Bad Edcuation hasn't gotten really good reviews.
ESOTSM may have the "overrated" backlash (though I'm on record as finding to be one of the best movies I've seen in the last five years), and Before Sunset may not have been seen by enough members of the academy (though I'm on record as finding it to be my second favorite movie of 2004).
Rotten Tomatoes went through and ranked all of the movies of 2004 (with more than 50 reviews) and the list is interesting. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/featur...tro=yes&type=c
