On the topic of missing clothes, the epitomy of The Emperor Has No Clothes is the retarded exhibition by two (likely) stinky foreigners who go by their first names only and are able to fool the retarded artsy crowd in Manhattan into thinking that hanging a bunch of sorry looking Saris is meaningful to anyone but them.
The landscape as art thing reminds me vaguely of the giant puppet show in Being John Malkovich which I liked but in any event I just hope my rental dollars and taxes did not contribute to this Christos bullshit. The only saving grace is that this little putz Christo is being hounded by commoners asking if they can purchase (ICK, THE BOUGEOIS!) one of the er...Sari-thingeys...and he has had to get all pissy about it on his website. Heh.

2. The fact that the "artists" are foreigners really underscores the horrible irony of the whole project.

That's got to be bullshit/candid-camera type stuff...

Time out. Get him some fluids! Game on, scores ten in a row. He should be in bed. Sure.

Have you ever played a sport when you were really sick? You can have short, powerful bursts of energy that you normally could recover from immediately but, because of the flu, etc, you feel exhausted after that burst. I've experienced just this. It takes you a few minutes to recover instead of recovering immediately, but you still have the capability to get to the top of your game, just not as often. It's much more difficult to maintain that high level than when you're healthy.
Of course, I agree that Jordan was playing it up a bit. Also, of course, the top of my game is exponentially lower than MJ's.

The other day, I was feeling kind of sick. Scratchy throat. Maybe even a touch feverish. But I decided to go to spin class anyway. Well, as fate would have it, this was the day the teacher decided to really push it out. I mean, really really push it out. I was weak and did not have my usual spinning spark. By minute 40, I thought I might have to call it a day. But when she called out the three minute standing sprint, it was like I was temporarily transformed. I reached deep inside myself, and found a reserve of strength and energy and courage that I previously did not know existed. I am not sure that "heroic" is the right word to describe the situation, but nor I am sure that it is not.
Anyway, after class I was describing to a couple of others how I was a little sick and feeling low during the class. They accused me of "playing it up" and said I could not have really been sick given my performance in class. But sure enough, I took my temperature when I got home. A fever of 101.
I suppose if you have never been in the position where you have had to reach deep inside yourself to find that reserve, it would be easy to be skeptical of Schilling or Jordan - to think they were overstating the pain and the weakness for the sake of drama. But let's just say that I would not be so quick to judge until you have been in their shoes.

Dissent. This may sound hurtful- but I kind of like eating at a restaurant where there are overweight people. I feel better about myself, worry less about my diet, and can just enjoy a steak, with baked potato and sour cream and butter.

I bet there were horns in the music she picked out for the sprint. Horns can really cause you to get up and fight through it. I remember back when Jordan played they did that "charge song" which had horns, the Chinese Army always attacks to bugle calls, etc.

Thanks for backing me up. The same thing happened to me Saturday night in my bowling league. Couldn't Team Hungus see that I had less than half of my usual MGD intake? That's proof that I was sick.

For what its worth, I saw a segment about the piece on the news the other day (may have been when I was in NYC to the extent that it matters) that said (1) the Christos has lived in NY since 1964s and (2) it was entirely privately funded byt Christos.

Yes, the Cristos spent their own money on the project, and lots of art lovers went to New York last week and this week to see the Gates. New York came out ahead.
I trust, though, that DK will be equally indignant about public funds being used on the new sports arena.

It's coming down too quickly, its down after this week.
The thing I can't believe is that its not defaced. My image of New Yorkers and Central Park is shaken by this project not being seriously vandalized.

Nice try, Adderwhiff, but as usual you are missing the point. First, the fact that some likely pungent foreigners have set up base in Manhattan for some period of time does not make them any less foreign or any less smelly. Second, to spend that much money in Manhattan, whether it is your own or not, and to use it for some saffron, art fag, monument to your own ego instead of for something like, um, a firemen's widow relief fund, is nothing less than an affront to the city.
