Bayern Munich is leading Arsenal 1-0 late in the first half. You can listen to the broadcast at bbc.co.uk (click on the Live at Five radio link. Liverpool is leading Bayern Leverkusen 2-0.

Anyone see the Chelsea-Newcastle match on ppv? I caught the highlights. Wow! Red card on the keeper. I've only seen that once before.

Anyone have a link to the photo of the guy wearing the green thong on the beach? The one that goes over his shoulders.

I was attempting to describe this image to my soccer team last night and they have requested visual evidence. I tried searching the FB archives but no luck.

Bayern will destroy Arsenal. They are a shadow of their former selves. I would not have picked Liverpool, especially without Morientes and Gerrard in the side. Didn't see the Chelsea game, but that is a rare call.

Listening to Celtic v. Rangers reserve game. Ironically, our reserve team is playing much better football than our first team and leading 2-0. Juninho just scored - now its 3-0.

The amazing thing about The Gates is not the artistic redefinition of the Central Park landscape. It's the effect it had on people.

Central Park is considered the city's oasis. In the summer, it's one of the best places to be in the city. In the winter, there isn't much going on. These two idiots managed to get everyone who would otherwise be sitting on their asses at home, out with their families to actually see something. (And these are people who aren't spending their weekends at the MET or MoMA.) The genius was only putting it up for 2 weeks, creating a sense of urgency. I mean, when will you get to see something like this again?

I went to see it on Saturday with my daughter, a friend and her niece. It was fucking freezing. But there we were, amongst thousands and thousands of other people, from the most hardened New York cynics to the biggest Bambi-eyed, clueless tourists. Comments ranged from, "What a waste of fucking money," to "This really is beautiful." People took photos, walked through the park, climbed the rocks and explored areas they probably hadn't explored in years. Adults were lining up to get on swings and everyone just seemed younger and happier.

I agree with you that its artistic merit is debatable (orange flags. okay. so?). But the real art is in how it affects people. And as far as that goes -- from the debate it raised, to motivating people to get out and see something different, to watching them turn into kids -- it was a huge success.

TM
This is so typical of the narcissistic self focus of New Yorkers. Other than the public spitting and urination it's the biggest issue I have with being cooped up on an island with a few million of you self-centered fuckers.

Everything, from arts to sports to dining et cetera has to be about "how does this affect me" "what does this mean to me" "here's my [finger quotes]POV[finger closed-quotes]". All followed by a glorified monologue oozing sociopathetic self indulgence. A culture of me-itis.

I can barely stand the pretense that screams for a freudian psychoanalysis but instead inflicts itself on me and the few innocents amongst us on a daily basis. This City should take a lesson from Chicago or Minneapolis or Dallas or some of the midWestern or patch based cities and develop a little humility before you all drain the life out of the rest of us. Maybe, think outside the box of the self for a minute.

As for Christoff, I am reserving judgment until I see what Nicolai Ourousoff has to say in the Times.

How, exactly, does one "drain the life" out of one of Penske's socks? This is information we have been seeking for quite some time now. I understand it involves a wooden stake and a picture of Hillary Clinton, but we're fuzzy on the details. A little help?

First, I assume that's only an issue with pants or a long dress; do women really run around in shorts or skirts not wearing underwear on second dates?

How did the fact that you were both commando come up? Is there any chance that this guy is just looking for a quick and easy lay? Did you fuck him before? Some people (not me, but some) might think that a "first" date soon after no underwear was discussed might quickly lead to fucking and develop into a non-relationship sort of "fucking," if any future fucking is to occur.

If he seems like a guy you actually want to get involved with (I had "nice, normal guy you actually want to get involved with," but maybe that's not your thing), then consider whether the prior commando conversation and your current underwear decision tree are really compatible with that. I know plenty of guys who seem very nice and charming and are well-liked just enough to get laid, especially with recently-divorced women they perceive as eager to feed at the johnson trough, but it seems like you want to have more than that. His comment that you are destined to be together sounds like "I am destined to fuck you the next time we meet and I get you drunk," but maybe I am just cynical, or maybe I just evaluate the statements of other men as cynical and designed with ulterior motives. "Destined to be together" creeps me out in the first place.

So, anyway, maybe consider that issue. If that's not a worry, I don't think that it matters whether or not you wear underwear. It would intrigue me most if, if the topic came up again, you said something like "maybe you'll get the chance to find out" or something like that. But, then, most women with whom I am drinking and with whom I end up discussing our current underwear don't end up waiting for a second date to interrogate my commando, as it were.
Jesus Fucking Christ Man! Must you suck the lifeblood out of every conversation?

You clueless pillowbiter. Try spending less of your time worried about your clever outing of socks and more on actually stringing together a post filled with words that don't read lie a rattail file across my corneas.

After you accomplish that, which should be one day after never, then you will also acheive the realization that while I am a sock, I am not Penske. I am more a nuanced individual who has taken some time away from this place but now is back to see if I can breathe some life into what is otherwise a series of posts that are staler than the sustenance you provide the crust-eating maggots that dwell in your underoos. Keep guessing though and with each brain cell you expend I will become that much more of your master!
