Now, if I were advising her, and AI would allow it, I would have her do a Garbage tune. I saw a SNL rerun recently with Garbage on it and am reminded just how great this band is/was. Shirley hads an incredible voice and is a mesmerizing stage presence even though she just stands there and sings and doesnt do any dancing in bras bullshit. And the band rocks, its not jsut her. What happened to this band"? I loved the first two albums and havent heard squat from them since.

There's a new Garbage album coming out, I think, in March. The single should be in heavy rotation on your local "alternative rock" station.

Do you suppose the men of the SC are afraid that sex with men will become obsolete bc sex with vibrators is so much better (with exceptiosn that they will never know about)

It would have been good as a miniseries where the disparate, yet endless, patchwork of different scenes of a life would have been better in a story type setting. But that movie was interminable. I thought the acting was excelelnt though. Best movie? something memorable and classic? No way.
The only other movies I would have wanted to see are Ray and Eternaal Sunshine. Ray was too long to see in a movie theater and Eternal Sunshine had Jim Carrey in it who tops my Revolta list so I couldnt go which was unfortunate. All in all, I say this was a bad year for movies and they should just scrap the whole fucking thing. Except for Chris Rock. I hope he doesnt get all conformist and shit.

Jim Carrey is not very Jim Carrey-esque in ESOTSM. He usually annoys the crap out of me and I don't think I've seen another one of his movies since The Grinch (which I thought was terrible) but I loved him in this movie.

Thanks, G3!
Neverland was great, but I'm a fan of sappy movies (yes, I cried).
All the acting was great. Frankly, the story as written would have been too sappy even for me but for the acting.

Forget the sex part. Do you know how seriously all those vibrators buzzing away interfere with TV reception?

Why, love? And I know they SOUND cheesy but the pale pink lace and TINY black bows make them actually really cute. Not Fredericks of Hollywood style.

When you generically critique men as partners this way, you diminish the impact of your other bad reviews of one individual man.

Those are the quotes of disdain. Are you calling me a faux-alternative rocker? Bc I am more of a classic rock kinda gal. I am disappointed you don't like Garbage? Is it bc 1) you dont like chick singers 2) you do the flower like automatic disdain to anything made post 1980 or 3) do the automatic flower like disdain of anything that sold over 100.000 records?

I have heard this before, and the problem is confuonded by my love of the screenwriter who last worked witha quasi-revolta, Nicholas Cage (who may have just permanently settled in Revolta land though his recent nuptials and fatherhood). I gave Carrey the benefit of the doubt in the movie about my belvoed Andy Kaufman, even though it had Revolta Club member Countrney Love in it. And he wasnt very Jim Carrey in it, but he was still Jim Carrey.
The Revolta Club membership is not earned just through a certain cloying screen presence (usually over the top), but also by off camera statements. This guy is a serious assjack who takes himself way too seriously. And he is over the top to boot. I actually like Robin Williams better now, and havent seen Robin Williams Dramady since Hello Vietnam. And I sat thorugh part of the Inside the Actors Stuido with Robin Williams which was completely unwatchable. But I think I would watch Death to Smoochy over Eternal Sunshine. Too bad they cant just dub him out.

1) pale pink lace
2) black bows
3) any combination of the two above. Sounds like a castaway from a 1940's brothel in the Wild Wild West

Ouch. I think I hear the sound of str8's heart breaking, just a little bit inside. But nothing a lunch at Dolce can't fix.

I think it was more of a "alternative isn't really 'alternative' anymore" sort of disdainful sniff -- didn't strike me that Ollie was making an anti-Garbage comment. But I could be wrong.
As for your whatever happened to Fiona Apple question, I seem to recall reading recently that her label (Sony?) is refusing to release her latest work as "uncommercial."
Apropos of chick singers, I am listening to the Donnas as we speak. Uh, type. Whatever.
