What did Mortimer say?
Every year, same joke.

And it never, ever, ever gets old.

I think Clarence Beaks stole Scorsese's envelope.

I think she (supposedly) got them post Boys Don't Cry. (See that Oscars dress (bronze with a big 18th century necklace that sparked much discussion about how she couldn't pull that sort of jewelry off) vs. this one.) They are good because the change is very, very slight - they don't change position at all, or even shape, really, they just are a bit less flat. It looks like she went from a B to a B+, maybe. They are also still where boobs are supposed to be.

I think that, if her dress had the shoulders cut in more of a raglan style instead of the round armhole it had, I would have loved it. Hair and makeup definitely too severe, though. Angelina Jolie can pull that look off, but not Hilary Swank.

A fucking joke.
Marty? I didn't realize you guys were close. But, the thing is, the movie wasnt great. Nor was Gangs of NY. Idiot.

When you two were dating was it tough to agree on a movie to go see?

Hairist fuck.

As I've said many times before, I prefer short hair on chicks. I concede that this is the minority view, but whatever. Nonetheless, I think everyone will agree that I am mostly correct when I say that Halle (and Sharon Stone) look objectively far hotter with short hair.

When I saw her dress last night, it didn't do much for me. The I saw Fringey's picture, and it looked gooooood, so maybe it's a look that needs movement and light.

I hope you're joking. The directing in MDB was miles above Aviator...of course, the script was too, and that may have been part of it. Aviator was the worst movie I saw this year, and I saw the Wedding Date. There was absolutely no plot development and I left that film knowing nothing more about Hughes than I knew going in...it just skimmed the surface of a chunk of his life. It was pathetic. All glitz and no substance. And whatsherface from Sideways shoudl have won for best supporting actress. Kate Blanchett's award was just a pity award for snubbing Aviator for all the other biggies...of all the biggies it was nominated for, Kate was arguably the closest to a legitimate contender. Bleck
You are mostly correct but the one thing Aviator had that was memorable was Cate Blanchett's performance. The rest of it was overlong glittery fluff. And Alan Alda.

...has to challenge Dallas as the most conspicuously consuming upper-middle class community in the country. Just disgustingly bourgeois. The best restaurants are in big boxes in malls in which the decor, prices and menu were chosen by marketers in the planning stage of this "elite seafood restaurant." Jesus, I wanted to throw up. Jackasses in their thirties smoking cigars and spending money to make up for their pathetic existence in the middle of the fucking desert.

You don't see this shit in real cities. It seems more understated the more east you go. East coast people may be annoyingly condescending, but I prefer that any day of the week to people who are insecure consumers.

I choose "I'm better than you just because I am" over "I'm better than you...can't you tell by my watch, car, huge cookie-cutter mcmansion and underlying blue-collar background that I'm clearly ashamed of."

Was I out of it due to yet another late night soccer game or, was Dustin Hoffman drunk while presenting last night?

Oh? And how much time have you spent in Dallas? No, not Plano, not Midcities, not Metroplex. Dallas. One of the five best (seriously) restaurant cities in the country and I'm not talking chains in mini malls.

Doesn't matter.
He was in Phoenix for two or three days and he's written off everything west of Philadelphia. He's got a gift for quickly getting to the heart of a place.

I have no comment on the substance of your post other than it is kind of funny considering your avatar.
