Meanwhile, in Reno, even your Special Ed teacher will put 'em on the glass if you ask nice. Or even if you don't. If that's what they're doing outside Reno, what they hell are they leaving for Vegas --- a donkey show?
Mmmmm, Reno...

screaming at my television yesterday as I watched one reCOCKculous fucking golf shot. After Tiger made that chip on 16 there was no fucking way he was gonna lose. In a way I almost felt bad for DiMarco. It was destiny baby, and no matter how well he played, Tiger was still gonna win it.

Celtic- A Club that need to get focused on the business at hand-

Geez weed, your club forced the Proties to boo the Pope?

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,153029,00.html

  • Pope Booed at Scottish Soccer Game

GLASGOW, Scotland — Fans at a Scottish Cup soccer game jeered during a minute's silence for Pope John Paul II on Sunday, forcing the tribute to be cut short.

The booing by Edinburgh-based Heart of Midlothian fans came before the semifinal against Glasgow-based Celtic, which has mostly Catholic fans. Referee Stuart Dougal ended the memorial less than halfway through because of the noise. The game was televised in Britain and overseas.

Celtic's main rival is Rangers, another Glasgow-based team — whose fans are largely Protestant — and games between the two have led to violence inside and outside stadiums.

Do people take their kids to these games? I mean I've taken mine to opposing clubs arenas and we dress down (no pistons stuff, etc.). But I really wasn't afraid of them getting beat up. Weed- do you go to games geared to be in fights, or what? I think I might watch games on TV if I was a UK football fan- being there really doesn't sound fun.

You should read "Among The Thugs" - written by a reporter who starts hanging out with soccer hooligans (in order to write the book). The book ends with him in the wrong place at the wrong time and getting the shit kicked out of him by Italian riot police. I think the situation may not be as bad these days, but still . . .

That was the first golf match I've watched since "Caddyshack." (HD makes you do funny things like watch nature shows.) Based on these two observations, I've concluded the ball always hangs on the edge for a three-count, right? When the ball dropped, I half expected them to cut to shots of the puppet gopher swaying his hips to "I'm Alright."

BTW, say what you will about Phil Mickelson, but his wife is fucking hot. If that's what bitch-tits can earn you in this life, I'm going on the Wonk diet, pronto. Hey, laaaaaadeeeeeeys . . .

Apropos of this, have you read Nick Hornby's "Fever Pitch"? If so, is it any good, and (more importantly) would a non-soccer fan who likes Hornby's stuff be able to enjoy it?

In other sports-related news, Not Bob watched "Mr. 3000" instead of "Shaun of the Dead" (which wasn't available) on pay-per-view the other night. It was a surprisingly good movie, and I'd actually rank it highly on a list of baseball movies.

See how I broaden your horizons?

Kids go to the home games but I doubt anyone takes their kid to an away game at Ibrox (Rangers' stadium) and vice versa. There is strict, strict segregation of fans at all games, and away fans are usually held back after the game is over to prevent them from mixing with home fans outside the stadium.

That said, I have been to Glasgow a couple of times for games and would never wear any Celtic colors outside the stadium (I even got turned away at one place because the bouncer saw the end of a scarf sticking out of my pocket). You never know when you might walk down the wrong block.

I'm glad this is making the international news, because the anti-Catholic/anti-Irish bigotry in Scotland is truly shocking and has no place in the 20th or 21st Century. It gets swept under the rug by the powers that be (most notably the Scottish Football Association) most of the time, but maybe now they'll be forced to take action against the scumbags who chant "Fuck The Pope" and sing about being "up to our knees in Fenian blood" at Celtic games.

I'm seeing them tonight. Got the CD on Friday because I'm special.* It is quite good (not Version 2.0 good, but I like it better than Beautiful Garbage - no more of that doo wop stuff). The title track is sort of Lou Reed-inspired. CD also includes video for the new single.

I think you're sleeping with
a friend of mine.
I have no proof,
but I think I'm right.

That is my str8 POTD.

Fever Pitch (the Hornby book, not the new movie) is excellent. You need know nothing about soccer whatsoever to appreciate it. Hornby just uses his love of Arsenal and significant games as emotional landmarks in a story about how he (never quite) grew up loving the team. And by the time you're done you may actually be interested in the game and the team.

Then you can hang out with Flower and drink Smirnoff Ice while you watch the games.

I'm sure your wife will be happy to hear that you're new goal in life is searching for a new hot woman to bang. Let me know when she gets the forward I sent her.

Arrested

Gee, who knew this guy had an anger management problem?

Chris Shelton, 22, one of six remaining contestants competing for a job with Donald Trump, was taken into custody early Sunday, April 10, 2005, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida. He was released after posting $250 bail.

A tribal police officer said he heard a noisy Shelton in the hotel lobby and asked him twice to calm down before arresting him, said Seminole police spokesman Gary Bitner.

“He was loud and he just wouldn’t calm down,” Bitner said.

Shelton was peeved over a $20 cover charge for the hotel bar. Shelton “was at the lobby causing a scene,” the police report said. “There were several patrons in the area who were visibly shaken by his actions. After several attempts to calm Shelton, he continued to yell and curse, refusing to calm down and stop causing a scene.”

So, a self-made real estate millionaire gets pissed over a $20 cover? Cheap ass.
