1. He's invited for dinner, insists on buying the steaks (we're doing a grill outdoors thing), or at least on saying he'll buy them. Late in the day, decides instead he'll bring "the beer". Shows up that evening with "the beer" -- as in ONE BOTTLE OF BEER (a larger-than-normal bottle, granted, but not for more than two people who don't drink a lot of beer).

2. On another occassion, brings over a bottle of wine from his parents' house -- which bottle of wine is ALREADY OPEN! He says it's fine, because his parents have one of those air-sucker-outer cork-and-vacuum contraptions.

3. My husband tells this guy (!!) that I think he's a cheapskate (another story all its own), and the next time he shows up at the house, he brings over an almost-empty bag of chips and an old container of salsa.

Ha-fucking-ha.
I'm sure you of all people handled these situations with grace and tact. I probably would have said something that would get me in a world of trouble. However did you handle these?

Excuse me, but "proactive" and "paradigm"? Aren't these just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? Not that I'm accusing you of anything like that.

But let me add, as far as the Mets fans go, it's the psychology of being lovable losers. Always behind the Yankees. The triple A team in a Major League city. Hell, you guys weren't even really talking shit in 2000 because you knew you were going to get spanked.

And you're proud of this?
Not so much pride, no. More amusement about how easy it is to wind up the Yankee fans the day after a big loss. Sucka.

For the "one bottle of beer" incident, I just teased him about it. I think I may have said something like, "Good thing you're the only one who likes beer!" or similar. However, by the time the "open bottle of wine" caper rolled around, my patience had worn rather thin. I served him the open bottle of wine, and the other guests got the good stuff. (I didn't tell him this, by the way, just served it from the kitchen.) Passive-aggressive to be sure, but a little passive-aggressive never hurt anybody (certainly not anyone who deserved it).

I'll give you a hint - there is a clue as to who it was right in my question. Let's see if Senor Suckerina can figure it out. Don't mess with the Weedster. Current score for today: Weed - 1, Suckah - 0. BAM! Now what time is it, Suckah? I'll tell you what time - it's half past the Suckah!

Yeah, but that's a Mets fan's definition of "win," which means...not so much.

I blame Rodriguez. Boston fans rejoice. He is our curse.

ARod is the Charles Smith of baseball. He is a joke. A charlatan. A fraud. A smudge on the Yankees uniform. A piece of shit. I would rather have Boone. I used to think that he should win MVP over Ortiz because Ortiz is a one-dimensional player, but I was wrong. ARod is the anti-MVP. He is going to be miserable in this town. I don't know how he will be able to walk the streets. If he would have simply struck out in the ninth, the Yankees would have won that game yesterday. That's two* of the three games that we lost because of his malfeasance. And his nonfeasance the rest of the time didn't help, but at least it didn't actively hurt.

Next up? That bullshit call. Or should I say those bullshit calls. If anyone, anyone argues that Cano should have been called out on that play, I will have absolutely no respect for you when it comes to sports because you simply cannot be objective.

TM

*Remember his game-destroying error in Game 2?
Well, there's 2 things we agree on. That was a bullshit call. I couldn't believe it when I saw it and then it was even worse on replay.

A-Rod's not a gamer. I warned you about him, and still you defended him. I guess that's over now. I have more respect for Jeter now, seeing the 2 of them in game situations together. Jeter is always watching the game. A-Rod is somewhere eating sunflower seeds. And I think the Big Unit is over. He's become Gary Payton chasing the ring.

Still, I believe you called me stupid for picking the Angels and the White Sox. Ha.

Oh no you didn't.

Oh. No. You. Didn't.

Someone tell me Suckah didn't just try to disrespect the Weedster. Oh shit, it's on now. IT'S ON! Weedster is gonna cram you in his pipe and smoke himself a big fat bowl of Suckah ass.

I don't give a shit about whether he's watching the game or not. I care about him hitting in big spots. He simply can't do it. He's a joke. A bad one.

I don't think so. He pitched great last night and I'm sure he'll put it together next year. His Game Three performance is unforgiveable, but we needed him last night and he came through.

I don't remember that (especially since I didn't think the Yankees were a sure-thing to win), but I've called you stupid so many times for so many different things, that it is quite possible.

See how talking about the Mets makes you feel better almost immediately? Don't fight it. Suckah.

BTW, charming column in the NYT this morning about spoiled, drunk, crass and violent Yankee fans.
Surprise, Surprise.

The NYT owns a sizable chunk of the Red Sox. It's the anti-Yankees local paper.

I usually call them out, although, like you, in a teasing way. It eventually worked.

I was the groomsmen in a buddy's wedding. The wedding was in Chicago, where Cheap Guy groomsman resides. Cheap Guy has a history of bringing nothing to the table and shorting us on bar tabs. Cheap Guy isn't rich, but he definitely isn't poor. Cheap Guy and SO attend the rehearsal dinner and the wedding, which equals two nights of free food, booze and entertainment. Granted, Cheap Guy had to rent a tux. Nevertheless, Cheap Guy gets Bride & Groom a $75 gift. Groom calls him out for being a cheapass, and does so by bcc-ing his other friends on the call-out email. Good times.

I knew there was a reason I liked it. I mean, in addition to the fact that it's a part of the vast left-wing mainstream media conspiracy.

And, to be fair, they go too far on this one. No one ever called you "spoiled" as far as I know.
