When you're mean to NFH, you feel God's pleasure.

Apropos of nothing, Captain von Trapp may have been a hero, but he was Not Bright. Evidence: (a) the Baroness was much hotter than the would-be nun; (b) He lives in the middle of the Alps, yet is a naval officer. WTF?
|
(a) The Baroness may have been hot, but she was cold. She wanted to send the children away to "camp."
(b) He was "working" from home. Jeenyus.

I tell them that the new dandies are like the Santa's Helpers that were in the stores at Christmas. Not the real Bond, but stand-ins, 'cuz he can't be everywhere.
But where I lose them is in the special effects. The Connery-era stuff just can't match the new crop, and so they like the new better.

Sounds quite brilliant to me. He's not likely to be in that first call-up, is he?
"My god, the germans are coming! Von Trapp, defend our ports to the death!"
"Er, yes sir. No real problem, sir. Getting on that right now, sir."

The von Trapps ended up opening a lodge in Vermont, and my sister took my parents there over some UVM parents weekend.
My mother and my sister predictably spun and sung at the top of their lungs as they ran down the nearby mountain. My dad pretended not to know them.
