Thanks. I'm still having trouble shifting images...but this helps.

chocolate is key. the ommission cannot stand. Perhaps Shifter and I could get involved, we are very productive at getting things done today. Perhaps an online petition? A blog. Coffee mugs? T-shirts?

I am very pro-chocolate. I believe that chocolate begins at the moment the bean is conceived, and its chocolateliness is innate and fully formed from that moment. Those that would harvest the bean and turn it into Hershey's or or any form of white chocolate commit beanicide. Do you have any idea of how many Hershey's bars are consumed in this country each year? And yet this beanicide Holocaust continues. Surely God will condemn this country for its flagrant disregard for the sanctity of the bean.

Turn away, ye heathens. Turn to the true chocolates, the ones that respect the sanctity of the bean - See's, Bernard Callebaut, Scharfenberger, and anything from Belgium.

Could you draw a venn diagram? I'm still confused. Where, for example, does mole stand on the dessert/not dessert continuum?

(Also, my brother found a place that makes Popular chocolate ice cream somewhere on the road between here and Marfa. The entire family swooned at the prospect.)

I agree with that 100%. Fruit is not dessert it is another course. As far as the chocolate rule it is a little flexible. Vanilla, Ginger, Cinnamon, Creme Brulee, Tiramisu, can also be desserts . Of course these are better desserts when they come with chocolate.

I wonder if deer eat chocolate. Dogs aren't supposed to.

Who would waste chocolate on a deer or a dog?

Heaven on earth.

More to the point, it's a dish that legend says was prepared for some visiting viceroy from Spain that pretty much took all new world ingredients and combined them: chocolate, chiles, tomatoes, galic, peanuts, cinnamon, etc.

It's Mexico's national dish.

I can't let this go without comment:

Is Maximilian's the world's only Hungo-Mexican restaurant?

A crappy reality series on ABC, starring a bunch of two-bit hack actor/actress wannabes.

Hershey bought Scharfenberger last month.
