I wouldn't have been offended by the purse joke -- especially if I had been the one to bring up a co-worker who hires hookers. It may have been a bad joke for a first meeting, but you threw TM a softball and that's the swing he took at it.

Well, no goodness gracious me if I wanted such Sunshine I'd pick you.
I wasn't that offended by it. Combined with the other stuff I cited the whole tenor was off. Just off. Like he was slightly off.

That Infiniti or Lexus looked pretty sweet though.

I shudder to think of how The Re-lent-less F.A.T. acts when she'll admit to holding a grudge given her behavior when she's totally over something (that she can't stop posting about). You're not nice. You're overbearing and obsessive. Outside of your cubicle, these are not positive qualities.
Just drop it. Just never mention it again. I've argued with Thurgreed about a number of points on this board. But he's in the right, and you're in the wrong on this one. You're not going to convince the board that TM was in the wrong, no matter how much you pout. That shit might work with your husband, but I (and others) don't care that your feelings were hurt. I'm convinced (by reading your post on what TM "should" have said), that nothing short of a press release authored by you would have met with your approval.
You're like one of these contestants on American Idol who goes to the tryout, squawks for 45 seconds, and then is flabbergasted that Simon didn't give you a record contract. And it's Simon's fault, and Simon's rude, and it's not fair. Well you shouldn't have gone to see Simon if you weren't willing to risk an insult. So talking about Simon's haircut or his tight t-shirts fools no one. We all know what happened here.
Oh, and the mnemonic for the planets is once again "Men Very Early Made Jugs Served Useful Needs."

If you don't like it scroll past it.
I love how people I don't even communicate with like to jump into the fray.
I have a strong personality and it certainly does rub some people the wrong way. Especially some men who don't like strong women.
And you and I and even Spanky and I have had little interaction so for you both to advise me on what to do on this board is very irrelevant.

I'm so glad I could bring you together. Especially after she saved your life IRL.

Or are you suggesting that there is some element of cultural force or coercion that deprives them of the ability to choose freely?

I was just being over the top. I wouldn't do it because to me it would literally be my worst nightmare, but for others, whatever -- who am I to impose my views on them? I was just jumping off.
On another note, I've got a big juicy bloody fat lip. People are looking at me funny. Also, it fucking hurts. When am I going to learn to move my head.

from boxing?
To be honest, I would hate staying home. But I've always been that way. And I wanted kids. A lot of it is from watching my mom after 20 years get divorced after staying home.....and watching her lifestyle plumment into the toilet. I said I'd always work. It could happen to anyone. But that is my own issue, but I know that is shared by a few others. This way is nice. I make a nice buck, I love the kids, and someone is home with them. It's stressful but a good stress.

I think that your impression of him and his of you was doomed for failure from the very beginning of this hairbrained scheme because of the contrived nature of the meeting. You didn't meet because you thought he was interesting enough and he thought you were interesting enough based off of your relative postings, which is how most people decide to meet IRL off the internet. You met because you wanted to prove something to him (and the board) that you ultimately couldn't prove to him. (What you proved to the board remains to be seen, but the board probably would have had more sympathy for you if not for the subsequent four days.) I think your meeting was too artificial for "chemistry" or "type" to come into play.
As for issues, we all have issues. This board is full of off-kilter people who I find to be a hell of a lot more interesting than most of the people I deal with on a regular basis, which is why I've put a lot of personal effort into keeping this place going. None of us fit the mold of the normal GA (whoever that poor soul may be). We're all rattling at our cages, and this is one of the only outlets we have. We're generally extroverts (with a bunch of voyeurs thrown in) who like our jobs to various degrees but have a lot of other issues and interests to keep us going. Our jobs are not the end all or be all of our lives. We're divorced or perpetually single or constantly moving jobs or hopping across the country or shocked as hell that somehow we became GPs or wondering how we managed to get older with kids and mortages but still feel pretty fucking young at heart. We don't want to necessarily become the GPs that we saw when we first entered this profession, but there are a shitload of expectations on us (usually from those very same GPs) that we do. Of course he has issues. We all do. It's the reason this board exists.

harebrained
SYLLABICATION: hare·brained
ADJECTIVE: Foolish; flighty: a harebrained scheme.
USAGE NOTE: The first use of harebrained dates to 1548. The spelling hairbrained also has a long history, going back to the 1500s when hair was a variant spelling of hare. The hair variant was preserved in Scotland into the 18th century, and as a result it is impossible to tell exactly when people began writing hairbrained in the belief that the word means “having a hair-sized brain” rather than “with no more sense than a hare.” While hairbrained continues to be used and confused, it should be avoided in favor of harebrained which has been established as the correct spelling.
