I don't think I ever saw his show, but I love Animal Planet and I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't have survived at first without him.

I read this description of him in the last few hours:
Quote:
For all, or perhaps because of, his theatrical nature, he made a lot of people look at more animals (and "icky" ones) and decide they were cool. Anyone can make lions and zebras look cool, it takes a special talent to make ill-tempered tarantulas look cool.
I generally like animals, even most of the icky ones (sans, of course, snakes). Getting people to take a second look at animals in my book is a good thing.

Oh, don't do that. My lament chiefly derives from the fact that, as I've read, these types of deaths are exceedingly rare. I hate to see one wasted on a guy who was a decent human being, whereas Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Tom Cruise, Adam Duritz, James Dobson, and everyone who still believes Creationism ought to be taught alongside evolution get to walk around. I think Louis Black nailed it when he said no God would take John Fucking Ritter at 52 and let Lennie Riefenstahl live to 101. The deepest tragedy here is the Croc Hunter took a bullet soooooooo many others so richly deserved.

Ew. But, OK. In between Old Sebby and Younger Wanker, I kind of liked him.

I'm even feeling a little regretful about not being appalled at your irreverence. And I'm never regretful. Damn you, new Sebby, indeed.

Agreed. Every time someone dies in the world, I am absolutely torn up inside thinking about all the people who should have died instead.

Really, who are you? I'm expecting a riff on assumption of the risk and instead I see a use (in fact, a misuse) of the (overused) word tragedy. Have you started writing for the Today show on the side? Your writing has an odd edgy/sappy quality. If he had died while riding his beloved motorcycle without a helmet we'd say "sad, but what a fucking idiot."

It's okay, Sebby. There were a whole lot of people who were upset when Jerry died.

Apropos of nothing, did you know that Jerry owned the film rights to Kurt Vonnegut's The Sirens Of Titan for many years?

This is the dumbest thing I've read in some time. If horses are delicious, we should be able to eat them. What makes them different from any other animal? Jesus Christ, people are stupid.
