There was no attempt there. Aniston v. Jolie? That's "cute" versus "classically gorgeous." Jolie just took what she wanted.

Meh. She can have him. He is becoming more ostentatiously self-righteous by the minute. "Angie and I will marry when everyone can." That's a very laudable position, but, to use a phrase I did not invent, I call post hoc.

That was pretty embarrassing. But he gets a pass, because he's tapping that ass. I think she's really amazing.

NCAA Waivers
I heard on NPR yesterday about a kid at Clemson that got a waiver from the NCAA on accepting gifts or cash from outside sources because he's assumed the parental role of his 11 year old brother. Apparently his mom is a crack addict and his dad has a serious gambling problem. He said that his brother goes to school when he goes to school, and then his brother comes to the field and does his homework while he's at football practice. The kid is allowed to receive money to help take care of his little brother.
He sounded like a pretty cool kid.
One of the questions that Robert Siegal asked him was what makes him different than the college football players who are also parents. I thought his response was fairly good: parenthood was essentially thrust upon him without any real action on his part. He did make the choice to take on the parenting of his brother, but he didn't knock anyone up to do it.
I generally think that the NCAA rules are ridiculous, especially given how much money these kids are making for their schools. So my question is why can't the NCAA draft waivers to allow parent student athletes to receive money from outside sources?

Because they don't want 5 year olds driving Hummers to pre-school?

Billy Bob Thornton gets a global pass on the basis of "french-fried pertaters."

You want them to have more kids?
eta: stp. Well done, Burger. Or well done burger.
efta: I think the NCAA rules are ridiculous, and I agree with the result in this case. I also think they just opened the floodgates.

Are you intentionally torturing the argument? "Cool?" What the hell are you talking about?
I am saying that when a team decides not to honor a contract or will not renegotiate a contract that is overwhelmingly in their favor based on a player's performance, most people think of it as a cool-headed, detached, arm's length business decision that the "team/ownership" is making because it is in the organization's best interest.
When a player attempts to treat the relationship on that level and wants to renegotiate a contract that is no longer anywhere near market, they are perceived as a whiny, bitchy, spoiled, ungrateful asshole who doesn't know how good he has it. It is no longer looked at as a business decision. It is simple greed. Reporters, fans and pretty much everyone else look at it that way. I think that's bullshit.

I prefer my burgers medium rare, but fuck, now I'm totally hungry. I'm like Sebby with the horniness, but with hunger on top.
