Hmm. Not appallingly small. That is saved for NYC. And maybe parts of SF. Small, yes. Expensive, yes. But I don't know people living in studios here.
That said, 2700 sf in West Hollywood is spacious. And knowing Paris (well, I don't know know her), I'm sure it is at least a $4-5 million place. 2000 sf renovated in my neighborhood goes for over $1.5 these days.

I don't do SF and NYC. They are dead to me. So they don't count.
I think she's in the hilly part above Sunset, which is more expensive than the part of WH adjacent to me.

Yeah, I get that. But I still can't see calling 2700 square feet a "mansion"... anywhere.

Having pissed off a judge once in Vernon, Texas for blowing off a defensive driving deadline, I've got little sympathy for Paris Hilton's plight. That said, I'm not entirely sure that the handcuffs were necessary.

(And we all know that's bullshit. She just wanted to blame someone so it wouldn't be her fault.) She was not allowed to drive, but she did anyway because she has no respect for the law and believes she can do whatever the fuck she wants.
She was arrested for driving drunk and pleaded no contest. She was sentenced to three years probation and then had her license suspended. Then she was pulled over three times during that period, each time violating her probation. When she was brought before a judge, she acted like a spoiled little brat who thought the whole thing was a big joke.
So, if you were the judge, how would you get her to take the fucking law seriously? I don't care that she's a celebrity. I care that she get the proper punishment that will leave an impression on her to act like a responsible fucking human being who can participate in society and live by the rules the rest of us live by. If she was a sorority girl from Joisey, I would say the same thing and I don't give a shit if the judge was grandstanding. Let her ass rot in prison for the full fucking sentence. She shouldn't even be segregated.

It's a mansion here. But she has a nice private lot. Here, you'd be 8 feet away from your neighbor in a $2 mill. house.

One at a time:
1. Agreed. And the proper sentence should have been something to scare her silly, like a work program or at most a weekend in jail. If you or I did this, we'd get at most a weekend in jail. Being a ridiculous shit and a cur on society, which she is, is not illegal. The sentence was too heavy. And why not community service? That seems to me to be the most appropriate sentnece for her. Make he work in a soup kitchen and clean up roadkill along the freeway.
2. Again, being a spoiled jackass isn't a crime. Loathsome isn't the benchmark for sentencing in this type of matter. The better course was revocation of her license for 5 years, which is what they do (I think) in PA and Jersey when you get your third DUI. In LA, that's an incredibly cruel punichment, but deserved. Driving is not a right. It's a privilege.
3. See #2.
4. I don't think that works. People who commit these types of crimes have no idea of what jail is like, so it's not even a factor in their decision making. And the practical reality is, putting her in general population would only result in her physical harm, which is not the aim and wouldn;t survive a constitutional challenge.
Why they do not revoke her license baffles me. That seems a no brainer. If she drives then, I say jail her for 48 hours for every single offense.

Yeh, but you get the weather. I have a bunch of friends who moved out there in the past few years. They call me to tell me I'm an idiot in the winter.

I was sort of with Sebby in thinking that it was stupid to give Paris Hilton serious time in jail. But then, yesterday happened.
Poor dear. She was sad. I would imagine being in jail makes anybody sad, you stupid bitch. That's one of the reasons it's jail. If you don't want to be sad, then don't do shit that could land you in jail.
I hope the judge takes her good time and makes her serve the full 45 day now.

This is proof the system worked. My guess is, something bad happened in there. I believe at a minimum there is a very demeaning disrobing before you are given a jumpsuit and "housed."
My firm represented a really hot woman years ago who got a year in country clubbish fed prison. She didn't do well.

Heh.
- LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- A judge has ordered Paris Hilton returned to jail to serve out her 45-day sentence for a parole violation in a reckless driving case.
She was taken from court screaming.
"It's not right!" shouted the weeping Hilton. "Mom!" she called out to her mother in the audience.

Then we have kinky sex.

Well, if there's sex, I guess it's worth it then. But just barely (hi!).
