At least that's what Wikipedia says.

Never mind. I get it now. Totally.

A fart joke would have been funnier, and more well-received. We have to get you enrolled in some Learning Annex comedy classes, I think.

I think that the judge is trying to make an example of her, not just because she was disrespectful to the court, but also because of the size of the press coverage - to get a message to kids today about following the law or else. I tend to agree on some level with Sebby that she is not being treated the way any schmoe off the street would be treated. If course, it probably takes harsher treatment for her in order to get it through her entitled head that she has to listen to a judge and not continually blatently break the law as if there are no ramifications.
Was her sentence reduced to 23 days when she was there and now they've increased it back to the original? I admit - I haven't been following this. Surprise!
ETA: maybe scapegoat was the wrong phrase. Whatever. You've convinced me to go back to working today, so thanks.

Shifter understands me. Or at least pretends to, which is all I ask.

So why do they take away her 22 days for good behavior? It was the Sheriff who let her out - it's not like she made a run for it.
I'm happy to see her serve her sentence, but I think the extra time should be done by the Sheriff.

what else could they do with her? Fine her a few grand? No big deal. Sebby's "make her work community service" would be a bigger punishment to the poor schmuck that had to supervise her. I don't see her doing a real good job with say, road clean up.
Take away her license? she seems willing to drive without legal authority.

Somewhere, Atticus is weeping over an overpriced latte that his bestest friend on them interwebs has stolen his schtick. I'm sure you will try and convince him it's an homage, but the damage has been done. When the second coming (hi wonk!) of Atticus is upon us, I wouldn't want to be you.

I think that she probably is getting harsher treatment because she's Paris Hilton. But I also think that because she's Paris Hilton, she has some entitlement / avoid responsibility issues that got her into this mess.
But from a "avoid pissing off the judge" angle, I think yesterday's shennagans probably were the worst possible approach in getting her out of the hoosegow early.

How have you not been following this?
Paris and her attorneys made the judge feel like a fool. Anyone else would have gotten the same treatment, though most are probably lead away in handcuffs from the initial revocation hearing. She got the privilege of being able to report when she wanted. That is far more than most people would get.

Makes our discussion pretty academic... I can say this: As much as I stand by my position in a detached, logical sense, I can't say I feel bad about this development. It may not be legally "just," but generally, "cosmically" so to say, sending her back feels really right.
I think it was the photo in the police car that did it for me. The lack of dignity perhaps.
Or maybe the vodka...
It is Friday.

I told Atticus that I'd convert to Zoroastrianism if he'd come back, but he never responded to my telegram.
