You could have a "stock the bar" party. Or stock the wine fridge* party.

*Why is there a "d" in this slang when "refrigerator" does not have a d in it?

We already moved in together and we really don't need anything (except towels). But I'm sure we're going to end up having a post-elopement party and even if I tell everybody not to bring gifts, nobody is going to listen. Can we register for wine? We would use wine.
A friend of mine who had everything she needed registered at Specs. She didn't need to stock up on wine or spirits for years afterwards.

And I totally agree on the registering thing. I get annoyed when someone I know gets married and doesn't register, just like I get annoyed at people who don't have call-waiting or answering machines.
I don't have call-waiting. I hate call-waiting. If I could get rid of it on my cell phone, I would. If it's that important, someone will call back. It's not as though there aren't other forms of communication.

(Which kind of reminds me -- when I was in law school, there was this new-fangled thing called "e-mail" that I didn't bother to learn how to use, because I figured it would never catch on. Clearly, I'm a visionary.)

Another TCOTU question.

Since I didn't have much luck with my first TCOTU question, here's another. Suppose that you were going to be in Manhattan for an afternoon -- say, tomorrow -- and you wanted to entertain yourself (and another), without spending much $$$ and without doing too much walking. What do you do? What DO you do?

PLF is irreplaceable.

That being said, I think that it would be interesting to see a distinguished yet diverse panel of FB Betty posters as judges (I'm picturing sparklehorse, fringey, and gwnc) decide who can wear the bowling shirt of PLF-ish hispterism. Taxwonk? Coltrane? Handsome Boy Model? Stay tuned!

Red line bus tour!!

I took my kids on that this week, and I have to say, it was pretty darned good. You can hop on and hop off all day, and they give you lots of interesting factoids about TCOTU.

PM me for details.

You could also go to Coney Island -- it's el-cheapo. But it's a haul on the subway.

Bachelorette party

How about a bachelorette party? Is it tacky to elope but also have a bachelorette party? In Vegas? With strippers and blow?

Can you elope if you tell everyone about it in advance?

Isn't what you're doing called "having a quiet civil ceremony in front of a justice of the peace with no guests"?

Pure is available next week. Blohan cancelled her 21st birthday party. That also means there are some hookers and drug dealers available for cheap.
