Hilary has always done well upstate, especially in Western New York and the low- to mid- Hudson Valley. Rudy would take Long Island, and might win the Rome/Syracuse/Utica belt, but he'd lose Buffalo and be lucky to draw in Rochester and the Finger Lakes.

No way Hilary loses NY. The fight would be Pennsylvania/Ohio/Michigan/Wisc./Florida, and she has a good Florida base.
I kind of want her to win. It will drive the country to the brink of civil war. Tax delinquencies will skyrocket and people will basically give up any hope or faith they have in govt. She'll be run out of office on a rail in 2112 if not assassinated while in office and we can start again, with a battle cry of "Now lets really slice the govt down - No more Ws or Hillaries!"

Yes, I have a dream...

I think sebby might be on to something. After the radical Muslims have taken over everything, the name might seem more marketable.

I must admit, drunk a few months ago I bought "Limelight" and "Spirit of the Radio" on Itunes and I have been rotating them heavily on the Ipod. I want to like the band so much because they are really fucking talented, but the lyrics and voice just drive me nuts.

Yep. I also take heart in the argument that his current stall in the polls is due to Hillary (a) being better known nationally, and (b) having the Hillary machine behind her, both advantages which will erode the farther we get into the fall.
I don't understand why anyway cares about the polls now. Howard Dean was leading in the polls, and then came Iowa. Things change.

In the summer of '03, many polls had Lieberman leading:

You specifically mentioned the lyrics, which put them in my head. They seemed so deep when I was in 8th grade.

I was still grappling with what "Shmatta schmatta shmatta I can't give it away on 7th avenue..." meant at that age.

There is unrest in the forest,
There is trouble with the trees,
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas.

The trouble with the maples,
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light.
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made.
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade.

There is trouble in the forest,
And the creatures all have fled,
As the maples scream "Oppression!"
And the oaks just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights.
"The oaks are just too greedy;
We will make them give us light."
Now there's no more oak oppression,
For they passed a noble law,
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw.

Me too. But then in 9th grade I finally realized that Ayn Rand was full of shit.

I thought she was full of young men. Many young men. It is documented. She got her freak on.

At that age I totally misconstrued this:

There is magic at your fingers
For the Spirit ever lingers
Undemanding contact in your happy solitude
